Still one of the best fish soups around if youโ€™re willing to wait 20-40 mins for a bowl

The queue at this renowned, long-serving stall can stretch 50-people deep during peak lunch hour, yet it moves along relatively fast. Orders are taken in advance while in the middle of the queue.
.
Known for their fresh, thick cut, generous portions of boneless mackerel fish fillets, the thickest I've ever seen. Yet, each piece is succulent and tender flaky, with lovely clean sweet savoury flavour.
.
The soft rice porridge lends a warming grainy sweet note, enhancing the already delicious broth, bright with sweet savoury flavour and a hint of salty notes, while crisp garland chrysanthemum lends a vegetal herbal sweet flavour.
.
The soup is among the clearest, with no option for added milk, just the way I like it. Between them and their closest competitor a few stalls away, I personally prefer the Han Kee rendition.

Finally tried this popular fish soup stall in Amoy Street Food Centre! We got the $5 (with added $2 for fish eggs) bowl which already came very generous with thick fish slices were so fresh and flavourful on its own! The soup itself is of a light healthy flavour and we didn't think they added any MSG! The stall auntie also added a small bit of fried garlic, which elevated the soup with some umami goodness ๐Ÿ˜ The fish eggs were definitely fresh, but we felt like it wasn't worth the addition of $2! The queue at 12pm is about 45 mins long; perhaps coming at off peak hours are better ๐Ÿ˜‚

This stall is perhaps one of the most popular fish soup stall in Singapore. One of my top favourite stall that i will brave the queue to get my hands on this bowl of fish goodness. The fish is extremely fresh and is my comfort food for soupy dish. The soup is clear tasting yet flavourful at the same time. A definite must try for fish soup lovers!!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Thick Satisfying Slice Fish Soup that is worth queuing up for! Never miss to buy this when at Amoy street!

I always have this with rice and Iโ€™ve reviewed that before, but I decided to try their porridge today and I kinda like it better than fish soup + rice! The โ€œporridgeโ€ is more like rice soaked in soap (paofan, if you would), but the rice is slightly more broken down than actual rice. Just not broken down to the point of goopiness. As usual, the clear fish soup was light & tasty and the fish slices succulent and chonky. Han Kee still remains as my fav fish soup in SG! The queues are as insane as ever so you should either reach by 11.15am, or go after 1.30pm for a reasonable waiting time.

Thick-cut slices of batang fish (Spanish Mackerel) cooked in a light, clear and subtly sweet broth with bits of fried garlic.

(S$5)

Soup itself was plain and unexciting. The fish slices though had a creamier texture than piao ji's, with a mellow sweetness before the brine sets into your palate. Chili had no kick at all

Overall I would say piao ji is better, but it's also more expensive. Both places have quite fresh fish slices but idk about the queue since I went at an off peak hour. Honestly I wouldn't queue 30mins for either, but assuming the time spent queueing is the same, I feel it ultimately comes down to whether you'll pay 2$ more for good soup. Also piao ji has a prawn option that Han kee doesn't

Hurried to amoy to queue for hankee which has insanely long queues daily. We queued for about 30 mins.

The soup was light but flavourful, and the bottom parts which were filled with garlic had an extra kick of flavour which was delish.

The fish was the piรจce de rรฉsistance (aka the carry) wow I am impressed! The fish slices were thick and kinda bouncy - texture was great!! The natural sweetness of the fish shone through, and was balanced with some slight savouriness. There was no fishy smell as well.

Was great having this delicious bowl of fish soup on a cold rainy day :)

$5 for the small one + 50c for rice! This is the stall with the suuuuuuper long queue but they are also v efficient haha. Fish is fresh and quite a lot!! Only downside is no milk haha but overall is good i can see why the queueโ€™s so long

You've been warned โ€” once you've made your order, do NOT change it. Aunty won't be happy. Live with your decisions! Compared to it's competitor, Piao Ji, the soup here is clear and light, suited to those who prefer pairing their soup with rice. Portion-wise, the $5 serving here is similar to Piao Ji's $7 one. However, since you're going to be in the queue for at least 30 minutes, we recommend ordering the Han Kee Fish Soup ($9) for a truly generous bowl brimming with fresh fish slices and leafy greens.

Alas, this time it was slightly on the saltier sight compared to that in the past. Still a good bowl of fish soup for lunch.

LONG QUEUE ALERT. Average 30-45 mins wait on weekdays lunch hours.

Overall: โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ

Incredibly thick and fresh fish slices with a flavourful soup that hits the spot. This was a $9 bowl of just fish slices - generous portion for sure. So so satisfying!

Finally decided to brave the queues here! Didn't get rice or noodle, just purely the soup. Was pleased that the fish slices were thick and fresh, and of reasonable quantity too! Would order again if the queues happen to be short haha.

$5 for a generous portion. I think this is the best fish soup in CBD. The soup is fresh and not oily. The sliced fish are huge and tender. Average queueing time about 45min between 1130am and 1pm.

The most long queue stall at Amoy food centre... Legit fish soup selling at $4.50/bowl... Generous portion... Highly recommended that you go before 11.30am if not the queue will be too long and your one hour lunch break is insufficient to get it...
