⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
🍴Satisfying and hearty chirashi bowl that came with thick (I repeat thick) slices of sashimi. The salmon, tuna, hamachi (yellowtail), and mekajiki (swordfish) were fresh and juicy. We were less impressed by the crabstick, and the octopus that was tough and difficult to chew through (would have appreciated it softer/ perhaps grilled). That aside, we liked the toppings of salty seasoning and sweet salmon flakes that paired well with the moist sushi rice. Would say it’s an overall enjoyable bowl at a relatively decent price point.

After walking through tons of cafes in that district, lies this unassuming japanese restaurant. No frills at all, the pink signboard was what made me found the place.

I was craving for soupy food so I went with beef shabu shabu. The menu had almost no detail about it, I wished it had more description.

When it came the marbling of the beef slices got us all looking at it in awe 🥩 🍲 Thinly sliced beef, accompanied with mushroom, tofu and an assortment of vegetables which are already in claypot.

Beef definitely of better quality, portion of each slice substantial and satisfying. Lives up to being the limelight here.

Nabe itself can have more depth to it by having more of different ingredients in it, making it an even more well rounded dish.

Both Kazan guy don and unagi don ($16.80++) were tasty and generously portioned. The only improvement I hope to see is for the restaurant to provide miso soup or a small salad or some pickles along with their dons.

Good portions of fish and delicious mentai. Rice portion not so big, but great deal with the 1 for 1!

Food was fresh and delicious, and service was friendly. Would definitely come back!

Totally enjoyed the salmon don. Especially when there is a Burpple beyond 1 for 1 deal. Salmon sashimis were soft and fresh, we wiped clean the bowl within minutes.

Thinking the spiciness ain’t got nothing on me I decided to go for level 3 spiciness which set my lips, mouth and tummy on fire - I have learnt my lesson.
An otherwise good soup base I could not polish off only because of the spiciness. As for the thick pork belly slices, they definitely were seasoned and therefore tasty but could be more tender. Overall a good bowl of ramen with what I’m guessing externally procured ramen noodles.

Asked them to aburi my sashimi haha. Portion size was good, fish slices were quite thick and the rice was nicely flavoured with Japanese seasoning. The price point was a bit high imo. But now with Burpple Beyond it warrants another visit!

The sashimi slices were really thick and fresh, and the rice had the right amount of vinegar in them; they were good enough to eat on their own! The only small disappointment would be the size of the Don, as I would definitely want to eat more of such good quality food!

However, such will be a steal if you use burpple beyond!

Decided to pop for a visit since we were in the east to pick my sister up from the airport! & there’s no better way than a hot bowl of ramen to comfort you before the work week begins again.

The Gyu Niku Ramen came with generous slices of beef with bouncy ramen and a lightly salted shoyu broth. The saltiness of the broth added some flavour to the well-cooked slices of beef, which ends up becoming a comforting bowl of ramen.

My mum had the Shoyu Char Siew Ramen, which comes with well-marinated, fatty slices of char siew in Shoyu broth. Even though it was based on the same broth, the meats have changed the saltiness of the broth, adding an extra oomph to the dish.

Available under #burpplebeyond, you could decide between having 1 for 1 Ramen or 1 for 1 Don! So each ramen comes up to $8.90++ each!

The most surprising one is the pink salt/sugar in this bowl which was very good when mixed with the rice. Wonder what was it but very good. The sashimi slices were thick which was shiok. They added just enough vinegar to the rice which made the whole meal appetising. Parking was a horror on weekends though. Happy that i got the one-for-one through burpple!

If you're looking for a tasty, no-frillls dinner, this low-key Japanese joint dishes up simple but hearty dons and ramen. The Salmon Don ($14) is always a winner, but on rainy nights, warm the belly with the milky Tonkotsu-style Kaisen Ramen ($15).

Ordered it without squid/octopus.

Though visually unappetizing, the sashimi was quite decent but the aburi-ed one was disappointing.

I can’t pinpoint what’s missing but it just wasn’t satisfying 😔

This "poor man's Wagyu"is tender and slightly fatty in texture, but not as flavourful as real Wagyu. Nevertheless, this is a steal for $15++, with chawanmushi, rice, pickles, miso soup and free flow green tea. There are 3 other weekday lunch options: unagi, grilled seabass and handroll-udon-carb-overload sets.

// Oddly, its tastes is reminiscent of a Hokkien Mee with a full bodied seafood broth used to flavor the fried udon. Chock full of ingredients, you'll find yourself eager to fish out the strands of udon first in order to acquire a stockpile of jeweled ingredients at the end. Definitely a must-order.

One of my favourites when I dine here. The nice unagi with burned rice. Remember to ask for extra teriyaki sauce to mix with the rice. The mushrooms and small fried fish adds up to overall taste.

The food in Megumi is one of the best in Singapore!

Clam soup, Salmon sashimi, fried tofu and prawn fried rice; Does not serve very traditional Japanese fare. Has abit of Chinese twist to the cooking but still very tasty!

The best Spider Maki I have ever tried so far. It is the right crispiness and texture of soft-shell crab. And the price is unexpectedly worth the food (:
