Lala-mazing 🤤 This Lala Bihun is a shell-abration of flavours! 🐚🍜

Lala Bihun (RM 14) 🐚
As a seafood lover, I was absolutely thrilled with the generous portion of fresh lala in this dish. Definitely worth the bib gourmand status that it has earned. The yellow wine was strong, giving the dish a boozy, sweet taste. The ginger and spring onion added an extra layer of sharp spicy and savouriness to the dish. The silky bee hoon noodles are like a soft bed for the lala to lie on.
What's more is that you can takeaway their broth as they help you vaccum seal it for long journey.

One of the popular food spot at Chinatown, serving their signature wantan mee for many years.

Unfortunately I came too late and they already sold out for their char siew. So can only grab their dumpling noodle.

I still enjoy much of their stilt style of noodle, which is like lor on it. Dumplings was really soft.

Fluffy bao and molten gooey filling from bao now. They are selling lots of filling of bao. Red bean , kaya, lotus paste, salted egg custard bao , pandan green and also nougats (fruit & nut or biscoff & candied almonds)

Soft shell crab bao RM19 - crunchy, big enough crab. Best eaten at the beautiful restaurant bar because chilli crab sauce might dampen the crispy crab

Pork belly bao RM20 - huge slab of pork belly quite fatty, very flavourful with preserved vinegar mustard veggies, also has crispy pork lard

Dumplings RM18 - 4 prawn and pork dumplings, meat is good , sauce is delicious need more sauce.

Pack of 6 Red Bean Baos ($8)
Pack of 6 Salted Egg Custard Baos ($12)

The bao itself is so soft and that red bean!!! The sweetness level is just right, and the filling is very generous. Possibly the best red bean bao I’ve tried.

I can’t say the same for the salted egg custard bao tho, but the salted egg custard doesn’t taste salted egg and it’s slightly more expensive.

Would go for the red bean anytime.

I think they're using Burpple as an advertising platform, because the restaurant seems to have an all day buffet at 30++(?), which would still be a lot cheaper for a family of 4 compared to using burpple 1-1 same item, depends on whether you prefer to select the premium meats or go for quantity! In my view, there's greater cost savings visiting without the use of burpple than using burpple for ala carte. Overall, staff are doing their best but still quite absent minded (forgot our extra bowls, mixed up other people's orders, another table's buffet spread didn't have sotong available but the restaurant didn't inform them). Overall the food was pleasant, but the deal on Burpple is a worthless one, their buffet offers better cost savings.

Buttermilk fried chicken, chilli mayo and mango slaw RM16

Lala noodles have grown to become a crowd favourite at this retro coffee shop located at the fringe of KL’s Chinatown.

Every bowl is cooked upon order and this can lead to long waiting times during peak periods. A generous serving of fresh clams is boiled in the stock that contributes to the sweet flavour profile of the soup. Superior chicken stock, clams, rice wine, chilli, spring onion and ginger are some of the many ingredients that makes up the broth. The clans and soup are poured over bee hoon and it’s filled almost up to the brim.

The soup was packed with umami. It’s slightly spicy as there’s chilli added (no chilli available upon request). Adding rice wine to the soup stock definitely brought out the best of this dish. The clams were sweet and succulent which made it a delight to eat it. It’s superbly good and I finished the soup down to the last drop.

They’ve got other noodle dishes on the menu but I’ve yet to try them. Will be back for sure. Do check out the other stalls such as the famous beef noodles or char koay teow.
