Herbal style and taste good
Queue is always long but moves pretty fast. Sauce to noodles ratio is perfect 🤩
They used the dory fish and each topped with either salted egg sauce or chilli crab sauce.
I find the sauce wasn’t too overwhelming, but the chilli crab sauce did taste mild spicy.
Accompanied by fries and coleslaw.
I was pretty stuffed after the thick toast and laksa chee cheong fun but couldn't resist their lor mai kai.
They probably made it in-house because it didn't have a porky gelantinuois layer of fats in it. The meat was juicy and the glutinuous rice tasty. Not too bad but I do prefer it to be slightly more flavourful.
Most of you would be familiar with the typical chee cheong fun which comes with soy sauce or a sweet sauce (eg shrimp paste!). My family actually enjoys having it with sesame and peanut paste or homemade laksa yong tau foo.
I personally know of maybe two other stalls that serve laksa chee cheong fun so I was naturally quite excited to check out Magic Kitchen's version.
Their version comes topped with shredded chicken, slices of fishcake, and tau pok. The laksa gravy packed quite a bit of a fiery punch but I found it one dimensional and lacking in depth. It's a decent bowl that I would grab whilst in the area but probably not otherwise.
I will be honest and admit that I hadn't heard of Magic Kitchen, which has reached institutional status in nearby Ang Mo Kio until recently. This is probably because it's located in a less central location and only opens for 5 hours each day.
Their signature item is the egg mayo thick toast which comes with a generous helping of egg mayonnaise heaped on top of a crunchy yet fluffy thick toast. I was expecting it to be rather heavy. Instead, you can taste the natural subtly creamy flavours of the chunks of egg white and egg yolk which are accentuated by the surprisingly light savoury notes of mayonnaise and the gritty earth and slightly fiery notes of grounded black pepper.
It's a simple dish that is well executed though I think some may find it a little too light for their palate!
Kickstarting my morning with carrot cake from this stall at the coffee shop. Gotten the smallest portion in black sauce but still pack with the taste.
Went to BLWH Seafood 3 weeks ago and ordered their Sambal Kang Kong ($10), Dry Ee Mee Small ($8), Claypot Tofu ($10), and their Prawn Paste Chicken ($12)!😇
Overall ratings 9/10! Food was good as I remembered, and it was super filling for 2 pax😁 Claypot Tofu was mid but the other dishes were 🔥 What's even better is that you can pay by CDC vouchers so + points for that😍 Would definitely head back again!
($8) + ($3.50 for sausage) I felt that their pork chop was quite salty tbh but then I regretted to order sausage but its quite normal tbh (but then they got set meal?) I don't think that I will be coming back again?
($8.50) HMMM THE SIZE WAS QUITE SMALL BUT I SAW PEOPLE ORDER THIS AND QUITE BIGGER THAN ME 🥹🤯. BUT THEY GIVE ME TWO PIECES INSTEAD OF ONE ??? But then the taste for fish was quite weird tbh. I felt that their standard dropped a lot since I went there last 2 year ?
Beside the famous Seletar Sheng Mian stall, you would find another stall that would have its own queue some time as well.
226 Boneless Chicken Rice signage indicated that they have established since 1988. So they have a long history serving their signature boneless chicken rice here.
Choose from either steamed or roasted, the set served with a plate of oyster sauce vegetable.
My first bite on the chicken was immediately hit with the flavour of strong garlic taste there.
If there's one place I would travel to satisfy my cravings for old-school Western food, it would be Rasa Sayang Western Food! The lunch crowd here would usually go for their thicc & crispy Chicken Cutlet or the also generously portioned Chicken Chop. But I'd always gravitate towards the latter for the mushroom sauce. It's well-balanced, not overly salty and has a subtle hint of sweetness that goes well with the tender chicken chop. The meat portions were definitely not as huge as they used to be before, but still bang for your buck given that it's also adorned with a selection of 4 sides like garlic bread and fries. While the crinkle-cut fries were average and didn't impress, the garlic bread was crumbly & buttery enough to mop up the rest of the sauce!
