Ordered Yang Zhou Fried Rice ($4) from Somerset Delight.

Very fragrant and even have small prawn in it. There's a queue but clear quite fast too

Finally came back to try after about 2-3 years and decide to go for it again and got the roast meat char siew Rice ($4.50)

The roast meat has improved being the meat is not as salty anymore and the char siew is still good as always.

Loved it and will come back for it again

[MAXWELL, SINGAPORE] Finally back to Singapore and so glad to be eating great Chinese food again! This time was a surprise find at Maxwell Food Centre ๐Ÿ˜

The Pan Fried Dumplings ๐ŸฅŸ ($7 for 10 pcs) from Xi Ying Ke was fabulous ๐Ÿ‘Œwhen the dumplings were done, I was amazed by the crispy shell the dumplings were coated with! They were thin, crispy yet slightly flavourful which gave it an additional layer of texture. The dumpling skin itself was bouncy, and it was filled with meat and chives. The meat within was juicy and flavourful and it was perfect with some chilli and vinegar.

Definitely recommended when you're here in Maxwell Food Centre! Yes it's touristy but good food exists here too!

I've been overseas for 2 months and yk what I really miss? A darn good kopi peng๐Ÿฅน like this ๐€๐ฅ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐Š๐จ๐ฉ๐ข ($๐Ÿ‘). But if you prefer lattes, get them unflavoured because the ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐จ ๐‹๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž ($๐Ÿ’.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) and ๐Œ๐š๐œ๐š๐๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐š ๐‹๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž ($๐Ÿ’.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) were mild tasting but smooth.

We were intrigued by their innovative toasts so we got some to try๐Ÿž๐Ÿž ๐‘๐ฎ๐ฆ & ๐‘๐š๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ง ๐‚๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) reminded me of Japanese cream sandos! The cream was fresh๐Ÿผ and had a strong rum taste. However, the v hyped ๐๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ค ๐’๐ž๐ฌ๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) was too heavy on the butter and I found the ๐„๐š๐ซ๐ฅ ๐†๐ซ๐ž๐ฒ ๐‚๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) too perfumed๐Ÿ˜ฃ

I was walking around looking for what lunch to grab and saw this noodle stall at the end row of the food centre on second level with a queue.

ไธ‰ๅฅฝ้ชจๆฑค้ข (San Hao Gu Tang Mian) is a Chinese noodle stall with a few options to choose from.

I went for their pork ribโ€™s noodle that you can choose either go with the original soup or mala soup.

The original soup is very tasty and sweet. Comes with generous pork ribs pieces on it.

Order this Aromatic Chicken ($6.50) from this stall called Spicy Wife and understand why is it call that now.

The sambal is really spicy and the chicken is like Malay style with lots of herbs. Overall, is good but $6.50 is bit too much to handle on a daily basis

Apologies for the lack of pic. I forgot to take one

Objectively speaking, they are one of the best in Singapore. Ckn was the more meaty kind and quite well cooked. Rice was fragrant and texture was good too. Sauce was somewhat thick, and there's a nice sweetness coupled w soy sauce. Ckn soup was light but passable. Chili was good too

But, being one of the best, doesn't necessarily justify the queue given the how many tourists are here. Not to mention the price

On a weekday morning, at 11 or sth, a 20-30min queue is still reasonable enough if you're in the area for some reason. However I would say during peak hours this is definitely a place to avoid, not worth the queue at all when youre alr paying a premium

Noodles where the feature is the pork belly or char siew is lost on me cos I donโ€™t eat those. They kindly swopped out the pork for me today!

Plain white rice topped with soft, fluffy, and creamy scrambled eggs, delicately drizzled with light soy sauce. To add more savouriness, a few cubes of savoury luncheon meat are scattered over the rice. While the rice itself may be a tad plain and dry, the well-executed scrambled eggs lend moisture to the dish, while the soy sauce adds an extra layer of flavour.

The luncheon meat, diced up into bite-sized pieces, provides a heartening sensation with every chunky, savoury bite.

A comforting bowl of nourishing pork rib soup with herbal flavours.

This Bak Kut Teh is not your usual peppery kind, but rather specialise in herbal taste. It kinda reminds me of Ten Wonder Soup due to its similar colour and taste. The soup itself is herby sweet, and each bite of the smooth, tender meat easily peels off the bone. While there's nothing particularly special about it, it's a satisfying option for a hearty meal.

To accompany the meal, added a small bowl of salted veg to try for an additional $1. However, I found it to be a bit too sharp and sourish, lacking the savoury kick I was hoping for, although the texture is soft and crunchy. Oh... The white rice costs $0.50.

Aromatic and flavourful long-grain rice paired with succulent mutton meat at Pakistani Dum Biryani SG! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐโœจ

This biryani packs a punch with its spicy and fragrant rice, infused with just the right amount of spices to tantalise your taste buds. Paired perfectly with the rice is the succulent mutton meat, cooked to perfection. The tenderness of the meat is truly exceptional โ€“ one slice and you'll discover how effortlessly it cuts through. The gaminess of the meat is retained, and each bite melts in your mouth, leaving you craving for more. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Served alongside the biryani are beany dal and creamy yoghurty raita, adding even more depth of flavour and texture to this already delicious dish.

Ordered the beef noodle soup ($6.50) from Pho Hanoi and I like the generosity of beef & soup. Really worth it. Will not mind to try more
