Not gonna lie… the sight of this fish head is mildly terrifying. 😧 BUT — mum insists it’s the ultimate comfort food.
This red grouper is simmered in thick, flavourful curry gravy loaded with taupok [a.k.a. dried beancurd puff], ladyfingers, brinjal 🍆 and tomatoes 🍅.
The fish is fresh, meaty and perfect with a plate of fluffy white rice.

7 years later and we are back at this zichar place again. Oh, how I missed the delicious food here! First up, we zoomed straight to these succulent lala clams swimming in that irresistible thick eggy, savoury-spicy chilli crab sauce. What a treat it is to dive into the signature chilli crab gravy without messy hands and cracking shells tonight! 🫶🏻

I’ve always been a regular at Xin Yuan Ji’s Bugis branch—it’s been my favorite fish soup spot in Singapore for years. Today, I decided to try their Bukit Batok outlet.

The soup used to have a strong, distinctive charcoal aroma, which added a unique depth to its flavor. While that smokiness is barely noticeable now, the soup still holds up well.

The freshness of the fish slices remains consistently high, and even without the charcoal undertones, the broth is flavorful and satisfying. It’s still a reliable choice for a comforting bowl of fish soup.

Visited @jb101firewokzflagship for the first time after bookmarking it on my map for the longest time!

They were having some promotion for fried fish at $2.90 only!!

Other dishes we ordered:
- salted egg spare ribs $15
- stir fried tanghoon $6
- charcoal claypot hokkien noodles $8.90

Loved that there was no bones in the pork ribs!
Would have preferred if the claypot hokkien noodles were the wetter kind though.

No GST and service charge here

Found a new XO Fish head beehoon place!

Super fragrant soup! They have option of fish head or fish meat. However, only fried fish option is available (sliced fish option not available)

Comes in generous big sizes of pork ribs even I got the small serving. Tasty sweet sauce and accompanied by some achar.

I find their version of spicy sweet potato leaves is more wetter here. But still spicy enough to enjoy.

Ban Tong Seafood is well-known among the Clementi residents, as they has been here for many years.

We gotten the small portion of their sliced fish in spring onion & ginger sauce. But still more than enough for 3 person.

The sliced fish meat is soft and tasty.
