The special bean curd from YY Kafei Dian offers a delightful culinary experience with its flavourful taste and unique texture.
Accompanied by a generous serving of vegetables, it's not only delicious but also great value for money at just $9.
Highly recommended for those seeking a satisfying dish to go with fluffy rice!

The fluffy doughnut from YY Kafei Dian is delightfully light and airy, with a perfect touch of sweetness, making it an irresistible treat.
Meanwhile, the plain croissant stands out with its wonderful layers and hint of buttery flavour.
Both are excellently crafted and highlight the cafe's commitment to quality baked goods.
Loved the iced milo and iced milk tea.

($2.20) Decided to order for trying their side dish beside their kaya bread. I felt that their egg tart custard was not that bad and not that hard (decent level) but their outer pastry crust was slightly hard to chew thru.

($10) tbh I did enjoy their Hainanese Pork Chop compared to another store beside them. It's much crispy and also crunchy texture for pork chop. The sauce for Hainanese Pork Chop was quite mild spicy and not that spicy that I thought of.

($1.60) Finally tried their best selling kaya bun even though they got a variety of dessert and snacks on the counter. The kaya jam got strong gula melaka taste and also got mild brown colour for jam.

If you have not heard of YY Kafei Dian, then I will recommend you try out their kaya butter toast that they make in house and if you are lucky you will be able to order their sugared doughnuts which is unlike your neighbourhood kind. The doughnut has a nice bite to it, and it is neither dry nor dense. The sugar coating gives it a nice sweet finish but it’s all about the texture. The wifey also loves the claypot ee-mian while it’s the first time for me to try their dry hor fun which is at best decent.

I am so sad I only just found YY Kafei Dian because now it is fluffy old-school buns over a crispy stack of kaya toast every time.

As I am usually on team “toasted” as opposed to “steamed” for my go-to breakfast kaya bread, I was so impressed by how YY Kafei Dian’s rendition delivered the best of both worlds. The interior was so pillowy-soft while the outside spotted a nice char. The texture of the warm, house-made buns was just really good. Served with a lovely pat of butter, the gooey caramel-y spread was superb as well - fragrant, and sweet but not cloying.

Mine was sharing kaya butter toast, sugared donut, claypot and a kopi peng sui dai with the wifey on this cool and rainy new year day. Also, seeing the 9% GST on the receipt has reminded us that 2024 is truly here.

Besides going to YY Kafei Dian for their kaya butter buns, sugar doughnuts and coffee beverages, one shall not sleep on their chicken rice. Chopped to a generous portion, the poached chicken is tender to the bite which complemented perfectly with the chilli sauce and flavoured rice. Everyone has their own unique way and concoction with the sauces, which makes chicken rice such a versatile and enjoyable dish for both locals and tourists alike.

I looove their kaya bun - so fluffy and thick, with a strongly coconutty kaya that isn’t too sweet, and has an appropriate ratio of kaya to butter to bun. Be sure to separate the bun halves so the butter doesn’t melt completely!

Pretty decent breakfast beehoon! Nibbled a bit of my parent’s portion as I had the toast. White beehoon was moist and 清淡. Quite liked the cabbage which was soft with some crunch. The taukee was nice too, especially the part with the crisp edges. Would definitely come by again to have this!

I didn’t have the coffee but it was quite well-enjoyed by the rest. Usually coffees smell rly good but taste is okay only, but this one was the opposite - smelt okay but tasted good, was reasonably strong.

Apart from delicious traditional toasts🍞 and drinks☕, YY Kafei Dian also serves up some affordable and fuss-free breakfast options. Got a mix of stir-fried noodles and beehoon, and added on a fried egg🍳 as well. A great option for those who wish to have a more filling breakfast😌!

The kaya bun was crispy and soft. The ee fu mee was not nice. Noodles were chewy and color doesnt look right. Taste was normal.

Happy 57th Birthday Singapore🇸🇬! Celebrating National Day with one of our favourite local foods, Kaya toast and coffee, today😋. We've been eating at YY Kafei Dian since young, and it’s a nice childhood memory for us👭. Love the bread for its slightly crispy crust, thick, soft and fluffy texture🍞! Having a coffee here to go along with the Kaya Buns is also a must as the coffee is strong and fragrant, just the way we love it☕. Simply the perfect local afternoon tea~😀

YY Kafei Dian is a very popular coffee shop serving hainanese fair. Came down on a Sunday lunch time, and was presented with a long queue, have to chop table first before joining the snaking queue.

Dub as one the best kaya bun in Singapore, this is a must try here at YYKFD.

The bun had a slight crisp from being toasted. Thickly Layered with kaya, with a thin slice of butter kiap in between.

YY Kafei Dian is a very popular coffee shop serving hainanese fair. Came down on a Sunday lunch time, and was presented with a long queue, have to chop table first before joining the snaking queue.

The most important must have dish at any hainanese food establishment, is the Hainanese Chicken Rice.

The Chicken was surprisingly very good, I dare to say can fight for champions league places of my chicken rice league table.

Chicken tasted quite good, meat was tender, sauce was quite thick, but has a light savoury taste.

Chilli was only ok I feel, but the chicken was really good.

I will return to try their Ee Mee and Hainanese Pork Chops next time.

The Bee Hoon standard was well maintained. It was moist like before and very smooth for swallowing. The plates of Bee Hoon were warm too. My choices of items are fried chicken drumlet, mixed vegetables and Wu Xiang.

On the second portion, we had a mixture of fried noodles with Bee Hoon. Our preference will be the latter as it was wet and was not oily. Tau Gua, Luncheon Meat and Otah were added to this plate. It costs $7.80 for both Bee Hoon & Noodles.

The chilli on the plate was mildly spicy and enhanced the taste of the fried items on the plate.

While a lot of coffee shop serves the usual toast, YY Kafei Dian has this additional Bun that you should not step out o the place without.

While many modern cafes are increasing, this makes coffeeshop like this a gem for retaining their traditional heritage. It does make us feel restored and charged going places like this once a while after sinking ourselves into those uptrends cafe.

It’s not common to find thick kaya toast buns. These buns are soft with a light crisp on the outside. I liked that there was a light smear of kaya so that the buns weren’t too sweet, and the bread was allowed to shine. I don’t really understand the hype, but it’s a decent and appropriately priced breakfast in an old school coffee shop.

Fortunately for us, we managed to order a plate of half chicken ($18) from YY Kafei Dian over the weekend. The export ban will surely cripple the F&B industry and affect many of our hawkers and restaurants, while everyone is scrambling to find alternatives. Hopefully the ban is only temporary and we can enjoy our Hainanese chicken rice easily soon.
