Their signature dish. Some people may not like it. I find it fishy. But the waiter is nice. They swapped a dish for me. I like the ginger frog.
50cents off for soup version.
The prawn noodles at 6th Avenue Porky Prawn Noodles were surprisingly excellent!
I tried both their signature dry and soup versions. The dry version was outstanding—the noodles were perfectly complemented by a spicy and flavorful chilli dip. The soup version was equally impressive, with a rich, porky broth that had a delightful depth of flavor.
The prawns were undeniably fresh. The signature bowl also comes with their homemade prawn paste.
And let’s not forget the chilli dip—it was spicy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the prawns. Absolutely delicious!

Mixed Porky Prawn Noodle ($7.50 soup / $7 dry)
Surprisingly, the prawns weren't the highlight of this dish; they were a unfortunately little bit overcooked. Thankfully, they came split in half so the shells came off easily.
I was actually most impressed by the porky things - specifically the liver, which was cooked to perfection & very creamy. Noodles remained al dente even after soaking in the soup.
Signature Prawn Noodle ($5 dry / $5.50 soup)
The soup is a little bit sweet; good balance of porky & prawny. Robust, but not overwhelmingly cloying. Refills are possible - we asked for 1x refill for both of us to share.
The chilli in the dry version packs a punch.... You have been warned. (I think I'll never get used to eating dry prawn me 🥵)
While running errands, I went to Sixth Avenue Porky Prawn Noodle at 7:30am on a Sunday... & there was STILL 1 person in front of me. By the time I finished my food (& coffee), it was 8:30am & there was a pretty long line of ~10 people 😲
The prices displayed are for the soup version; you pay $0.50 less if you opt for the dry version (except for the Pig Liver Kidney Mee Sua, which is soup-based). Re portion sizes, there are 2 sizes to choose from; I got the smaller sized ones.
Come early or perhaps during off-peak hours to beat the queue! I've seen posts on social media that show insane snaking lines. Driving here can be quite a pain, as parking is limited - but I got lucky that day.
Recently found a hidden gem for good zi char??
I had a group dinner at West Lake recently, and it was located quite hidden among the older HDBs in Farrer Road. Known for their Kong Ba Pao, it was indeed one of the best renditions I've had. The pork belly slices were braised till they almost fell apart when I tried to pick them up, and they had so much flavour. Neither too salty nor too sweet, the sauce was rich with umami and just perfect for the bun. Talking about that, the bun was so soft and fluffy and especially sweet after chewing it for a while! Definitely a lovely dish to get for sharing. 1 is definitely not satisfying enough for me 😂
Their Chicken Fried Rice was surprisingly good as well. The rice were in individual grains but not oily, and it had good savoury flavours while the wok hei was subtle. The chicken pieces were tender too! Very lovely.
Their Fried Baby Squid was a joy to have as well, as each baby squid piece was tender and well coated with a light flavourful batter. Best with some beer!
Didn't manage to take a pic of their Beef Hor Fun, but that was satisfying as well, as not only the Hor Fun noodles were cooked perfectly due to its silky smooth texture, the beef slices were flavourful and tender as well. Don't expect great wok hei here, but their dishes were still well executed.
Can't wait to bring my family here! 😍
On 21 Oct 2023 @12.40pm Ah Yat Seafood Restaurant (Sims Way) delivered the Suckling Pig, Shark Fin & Seafood Set ($864 for 6 pax).
The Fried Sea Prawns with Spicy Sauce was stale, the prawns were unfresh, texture was mushy and slimy and emitted rancid aroma. The family felt unwell and nauseous after eating it.
We provided feedback to Miss Angie Sim (the restaurant coordinator), she denied the issues raised and offered a refund of $16 (which she stated as the cost of the prawns). We declined the offer as the amount was insignificant as compared to the total cost of the package. Instead we asked for the restaurant to do a replacement, which had no issues, a contradiction to Miss Sim’s claims.
Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, and we will not be ordering from them again. Hope this experience serves as a caution for people looking to purchase from the restaurant.
Repeated visit for their BBQ dishes. Would usually order their leather jacket grilled fish and their stir fry Kai Lan.
Love that dried shrimps are added in the stir fry Kai Lan elevating that umami-ness.
Ordered their sambal sotong - excellent doneness; sotong not overly cooked, nice bite to it.
Love their chinchalok which compliments the sambal seafood.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Westlake and their Hor Fun is highly recommended. the noodles had just the right amount of chewiness, and the sauce was a blend of harmony that left my taste buds dancing with delight. Portion was generous, ingredients were large, ensuring a satisfying experience.
However there is room for further improvement with the service provided from the staff. Nevertheless, quality of food was tasteful and pleasant enough to warrant another visit in the near future.
