Pork chop, braised cabbage, chap chye. Lol this branch is the poorer sibling. The crowd and the food here are inferior to Jalan Besar. I know chap chye is a cabbage dish so why did I still have cabbage? My chap chye was a dish of assorted vegetables without cabbage, but I don't know how to name it, so it's a form of chap chye.

.
The pork chop still crispy coz packed separately from the curry

Is not the best curry rice, but its the nearest to my house 😆, and I'm happy with this when I have sudden craving for it.
The highlight is the thick curry sauce that pour over rice and the porkchop.
Its well Marinated and tender but prefer more crispy for the pork.
💰$19.3 ( with 2 drinks).

The staffs here are very friendly and efficient. the queue gets cleared very quickly! The curry is thick and flavourful! Favourite eatery at upper Thomson!

It has been more than a year since I last tried and I'm glad the taste is just as how I used to love it.

The generous amount of curry and not overly expensive ($2.90 for rice, pork cutlet and cabbage)

I doubt I will ever get sick of it.

Don’t judge the taste by its looks, this not very appetising curry rice is actually yummy!

For ppl who can’t take spicy stuff, the curry is actually quite acceptable, not say very spicy...u can taste the spices and the coconut milk just bring the curry taste to a higher level, anything and everything mixed with the curry also taste nice lah (even bittergourd, ya, yes)...

I like la-la but not with bean paste, just too salty to my likings, so, wouldn’t recommend that dish...

Damage: $4.40

Looks pretty similar to the one at Farrer Park whereby they've a huge pot of zhupcai, curry chicken, braised pork belly and some other ingredients (really like a mixed rice stall).

Their braised pork belly melts in the mouth! But i expected it to be better - rich in that soy sauce goodness, yet has a chewy top layer of skin. I do find their curry to be more runny compared to the original store. Their lalas are pretty plump and fresh, tossed in bean paste.

The food was not bad but aint special too. Price point was fair; braised pork, zhupcai &lalas for $4.20.

PRICE: $7 for these 2 plates consisting 2 veg + 3 meat.

In Punggol/Seng Kang, a plate of cai fan with 2 veg 1 meat would already cost $3.70

NOTES:
- Will order the stewed pork belly again. SO TENDER.
- Will also order the fried pork cutlet and curry veg again

I always maintain that rice is empty calories and filler food, eaten just so that it can fill the tummy, so I never bothered wasting time with any rice based dishes, but I make an exception for this. The tantalizingly rich and thick gravy that the rice and all the "liao" is drenched in is the star of the show. It is thick, creamy, fragrant and savory. I opted for the sotong, chicken cutlet, fish cutlet and sweet and sour luncheon meat in this massive plate which i devoured to every last grain of rice.

Rice, braised pork belly, chicken cutlet topped with a fried egg and cabbage so deliciously overcooked that my toothless grandma would definitely approve.

Be sure you ask for all three sauces. No Idea what's exactly in them but crack cocaine wouldn't surprise me.

🚂: Many outlets but I went to the Marymount one 💰: $10
⚖️: There's an option of getting the dishes all separately but I always felt getting it piled on made a better experience

I think everyone knows me as the sort to travel hours just for food (I once walked 3 hours to a café in Melbourne mind you), but when the company you keep wants convenience I end up just settling — and it’s amazing how you find surprisingly decent chows even like that. Can’t say I’m a good judge of scissor cut curry rice cause I’ve honestly only ever tried two places, but this made my tummy happy (and my wallet too) at just $3.50. I liked that the braised dark sauce wasn’t too thick or sweet cause I’m not too big a fan of the sweeter renditions, and that the fried chicken cutlet, though having sat out for a bit, wasn’t dry at all and was actually pretty sizable. That they generously poured 3 full ladles of the glorious curry over the mountain of rice made me a very happy girl too ☺️

Had the chicken chop and chicken wings. The uncle really cut those with scissors and top it on the rice. Added with lots of curry veggie and 2 kinds of curry sauce. Don't really know what's the difference but one tastes a bit sweet and the other a bit spicy. The curry itself is not that thick but quite nice. I regretted that I don't order the prawn fritters. It looks good btw. The whole meal is very satisfying, kinda too big portion for me. But it's totally recommended if you want something fulfilling for supper.

This curry rice just looks like a messy puddle of curry but I assure you- it was worth every bite!! Although unidentifiable, I got an egg, some green beans, a pork cutlet and obviously, a lot of curry to top it off. The pork cutlet was nice and crisp and with the curry, heavenly. There’s something comforting about meals like this!

Now there’s no need for travelling all the way down to Jalan Besar for the famous Scissor-Cut Curry Rice, because they had just opened a new outlet at the previous location of Hua Nam Restaurant.

Taste-wise, still pretty much comparable with that of the main shop. Just start off with white rice (S$0.50) and the rest is purely up to your pleasures. Just watch for the number of meat dishes you pick, for that will expand the bill significantly. But I enjoyed having the chicken cutlet, long beans, cabbage and (is that?) pork belly, and that costs S$5.00. Still affordable.

Maybe it’s just me, but with a slower turnover than the main stall, the food on display could not be piping hot. Nonetheless, that would not warrant this as my last visit.

$4.60. Cabbage. Chicken chop. Wu Xiang.
Yummy but sticky starchy rice! Makes u wanna zzz after eating it. Lol

I've been going to the Jalan Besar outlet for more than 10 years. Decided to try their Thomson outlet so since I was in the area.

Most items are priced at $1.50 per portion. Egg $0.60 each. Lor bak $3 per portion- most expensive of the lot and the price is not reflected in the list on the wall. Dining companion commented that the curry at Jalan Besar is more fragrant. They close at 11pm so it's not a supper friendly place.

Just because it's conveniently available now. Similar standards as the original stall, just a tad pricier

Ordered 4 meats and 1 veg so I guess this isn't your average serving.

The squid had a really good balance between chewiness and bite, but the curry didn't penetrate the curry chicken wings at all. Lor bak was pretty standard.

I feel that their curry lacks oomph and it is almost devoid of chili(which is why they mix the spicy sauce w the curry when they serve it). Otherwise I feel this is pretty standard scissor-cut curry rice that hits the spot

Lok Bak (braised pork 🐖 belly), Deep Fried Pork Chop 🐖, Ngoh Hiong (meat roll), Cabbage, gooey chicken curry gravy, and dark slimy lok bak (braising meat) gravy on top of plain white rice.
That's my S$5.80 lunch.
A mushy ugly mess which finished in a blink. Felt that the braising gravy itself was a tab too bland. The Ngoh Hiong was moist and crunchy inside.
