Been a while since I visited Tipo and didn't know their Bugis outlet renovated! It's so much more spacious and bright now💫 I was too lazy to build a pasta so I ordered a house special instead - Great Gorgonzola, and idk why I didn't try it sooner. The gorgonzola cream was sooo rich🤤🧀 and clung onto the mafalde well.

Tip: Sign up for the Black Hole Group membership and get 400 points on your birthday month (= 2x $20 voucher) on top of other perks! We dropped by on a Wednesday night and there were seats avail.

Aglio Alright ($19.90) - Tiger prawns | EVOO | Garlic Confit | Sous Vide Egg | Grana Padano. I thought the flavours and texture were all over the place; was expecting an aglio olio style pasta but the egg made it creamy and muted the garlic flavour. Also, made a mistake and added the bird's eye chilli which was so so spicy haha!

Creamy Crab ($24.90) - Crabmeat | Garlic Cream Sauce. This was delicious! Generous lumps of crabmeat, paired very well with the addictive, garlicky, creamy sauce. Adding additional garlic chips and chilli flakes was a good touch too.

Overall, Tipo has a wide selection of house special pastas and their fresh pasta choices were also good, albeit I couldn't really taste much of it. However, the place was quite cramped and echoey, and on the night we visited there was a large group with kids seated right in the middle of the restaurant. The kids were running around and made a huge ruckus, with us unfortunately being seated right beside them. We just quickly finished our meal and left the venue before the annoyance level creeped up. Perhaps the large tables could be situated at the corner of the restaurant to minimise such disturbances.

($10 ea) my friend encouraged me to add on side dish as we might be not coming again bc its quite troublesome to do reserve on via WhatsApp. So I order Iberico Pork Katsu. Its quite crispy and crunchy texture as not that hard and chewy texture for pork. My friend he order Wagyu Menchi Katsu ($10) that got juicy, crispy and crunchy texture as not that hard and chewy texture texture.

($18) my friend ordered it as he wanted to try something more adventurous lol. I did tried their curry sauce as I felt tat its quite salty and also thick texture.

($16) I decided to get pork curry instead of chicken or beef instead. But their sauce was not that salty and thick texture but mid spicy. The rice portion just nice for me and my friend. The minced pork was a bit hard for me tbh. Initially we wanted to try out on earlier at last mth but then need to reserve via WhatsApp before heading to restaurant. So we decided to reserve towards end of the month instead and can check their instagram stories for slot before deciding the date and pax.

A premium dish but good lah. Unique pasta, enjoyable garlic cream sauce and just overall a very refined meal. They convinced me they're not run-of-the-mill.

Ready your stomach and join me in this gastronomic buffet featuring an Italian theme.

Starting with the seafood, sashimi, and sushi, you'll taste fresh and briny oysters, succulent tiger prawns and many more. I had quite a feast with these two seafood items. The sushi and sashimi were a tad normal, though.

I skipped the Salad Bar because, let's be honest, why waste stomach space on it? Lol. Moving on to Cheese spread, Cold Cuts, Bread Basket, and Chilled Antipasti, I find the options were good. You can get full from this if you're not careful.

Italian section includes northern and southern style dishes like pasta, lasagna, pinsa, nonna cooking, etc. While interesting to taste, it wasn't particularly appealing to my taste buds. I did enjoy the live station Porchetta di Maiale which was tender and flavourful and Fettuccine Truffle Alfredo in Parmesan Wheel was rich, creamy and cheesy. The pinsa had the perfect bite size with a nicely charred, puffy, and fluffy dough, spread with a tangy cheesy combination of ingredients.

If Italian isn’t your thing, the Asian Kitchen features a small spread of Indian, Malay, and Chinese cuisine. The honey-glazed Iberico Pork Char Siew is a must-have. The DIY station features Signature InterContinental Laksa, where you can make your own laksa by adding all the premium ingredients and pouring the laksa curry over. It's a fun experience, though the taste is more catered to international palates.

Finally, desserts include panna cotta, cakes, gelato, fruits, and a chocolate fountain. Each dessert has its own uniqueness and will certainly please everyone’s taste buds.

Overall, it's a pretty decent buffet if you know what to eat and can get a discount. I especially liked their oysters, tiger prawns, pinsa, porchetta, char siew, and forest berry gelato. Remember to check out their deals on their website before making a reservation to save some bucks. It can be quite expensive without these promos.

This place is insanely understaffed. For a 50 per pax place it's unthinkable that you have to keep calling the waiting staff for literally anything from ordering to filling water, and paying the bills. And sometimes to no avail

Don't be fooled by the apparent popularity of the restaurant. They're packed from people who are eating the buffet, and really it doesn't seem like the crowd appreciates good Italian food

Food review:
The gelato is the best thing here. But that's not saying much. It's quite a decent version, although that's the bare minimum you expect from a place of this price.

What a waste of time, effort and money. Avoid like a plague

Lousy.

Pasta bite wasn't right, the pesto was pathetic as well. Only can taste mint, hardly the complexity pestos are meant to be.

Lousy. A little bit of crisp, hardly enough. The dough was very chewy and not fluffy, quite tough also. Flavours of toppings were pathetic, lacking umami, freshness and creaminess. Esp the salami taste was sorely lacking, what is this monstrosity?

Come on bro

Tried the lamb ragu and the mentaiko pasta.
We chose the pumpkin Pasta with the ragu sauce but we felt another pasta would have went better with the rich sauce. I love the lamb sausage too with the feta.
The mentaiko was nice as usual.
We also tried the mushroom soup but it was pretty mid.
Very worth work burpple deal!

Went to Tipo Pasta Bar last week and ordered their Linguine (Chilli Garlic) and built my own pasta - Pink Sauce, Garlic Chips, Smoked Chicken, Swiss Brown Mushrooms ($17.90 before GST and Svc Charge)!😇

Overall ratings 8/10! Pasta was not bad but nothing too fancy🥹 Flavour of the pasta itself mentions chilli garlic too but it dosen't taste like it (staff did mention that the flavour is very mild tho haha) Would visit again only if I am craving for pasta😅
