I just ❤️ all shellfish (food)!! [Part IlI]
🦐🦀🦞🐚🦪🐌
Chunks of crayfish, deep-fried, then topped with a generous sprinkle of crunchy cereal. The perfect blend of savory and crunch! Yums. 😋

I ❤️ most seafood too!! [Part I]
🦐🦀🐙🦞🦑
Fried sotong [a.k.a. squid] rings coated in the perfect light, crispy batter and paired with a rich, savoury, salty sauce that’s impossible for me to resist!

7 years later and we are back at this zichar place again. Oh, how I missed the delicious food here! First up, we zoomed straight to these succulent lala clams swimming in that irresistible thick eggy, savoury-spicy chilli crab sauce. What a treat it is to dive into the signature chilli crab gravy without messy hands and cracking shells tonight! 🫶🏻

Comes in generous big sizes of pork ribs even I got the small serving. Tasty sweet sauce and accompanied by some achar.
I find their version of spicy sweet potato leaves is more wetter here. But still spicy enough to enjoy.
Ban Tong Seafood is well-known among the Clementi residents, as they has been here for many years.
We gotten the small portion of their sliced fish in spring onion & ginger sauce. But still more than enough for 3 person.
The sliced fish meat is soft and tasty.
A-Poh Kitchen is a Halal Zhi Char restaurant that has been around at this corner of clementi ave 2 for at least over a decade now.
Decided to try their Assam Fish Head this time, and it was awesome.
Fish was fresh and meat was soft. Assam gravy was flavourful and not so spicy.
Very nice and friendly staff too, very patient with us as we cleared our remaining CDC vouchers for 2023
I was WOWed by this unique dish that stands out from other fried items offered anywhere else.
Crispy, golden-brown batter stuffed with slightly pink duck fillet, prawns, minced meat, coriander 🌿 and mushroom fillings, paired with sriracha mayo dipping sauce that goes extremely well with the duck 🦆 roll! ♥️

Call me a ‘suaku’ [a.k.a. mountain tortoise 🐢] but I have never had ‘wat tan hor fun’ [a.k.a. hor fun with silky egg] with fried lard before.
My mum commented that their slightly charred hor fun packs plenty of ‘wok hei’ [a.k.a. smoky flavour] and most importantly!! — the addition of deep-fried lard with eggy gravy gives the hor fun, a robust and slurp-worthy flavour that easily beats seafood hor fun served at other zi char stalls. 🫶🏻

Hoy Yong has been around for over 40 years. As a Clementician since birth, Had memories of eating at this Zhi Char place since young.
This is by far, in my opinion, one the best Zhi Char store in Clementi.
And one of my favourite dish here is the Mongolian Tofu. The sauce is so flavourful, tofu was silky smooth with chunks of Tender chicken thigh.
A rather Popular Halal Zhi Char place.
High Google ratings (4.2/5 with 650++ reviews)
One of the better Curry Fish Head I had.
The other dishes were good, especially liked the pandan chicken and sambal kangkong.
Nice family gathering vibe here.
Staff here very nice as well.
Located inside food park at sunset way. Was looking for a place nearby my parents for a small celebrationary dinner and was actually recommended to eat here by my parents who say the food here not bad.
Decided to trust my mum since I was actually rather horrified by the negative reviews on Google.
Overall the food was quite good.
Sambal kangkong was stir fried well, not overly oily and was quite good, definitely 1 of the good sambal kangkong I had, not a bad start, as I always gauge how good a zhi char store upon how well they cook my favourite sambal kangkong.
Prawn paste Chicken was crispy and the chicken was fresh as well. The batter was quite good.
Assam Fish head was a Thai style type of assam. Spicy with a kick. Fish was fresh and meat slides off the utensils so easily. Silky smooth.
Both Chilli crab and Salted Egg crab was rather cheap, about $70 for 2x 600-700g crabs. Crabs were fresh of course. Meat was actually surprisingly tasty, no weird taste. Chilli gravy was ok la, don't expect mellben here, but the gravy is still ok, can eat. The salty egg sauce was quite thick and was ok as well. But overall was surprised that the crab was so good.
After enjoying my meal, I proceeded to approach the notorious lady to make my payment. Notorious because alot of the negative reviews on Google were given due to the poor attitude of the 2 female staff. I made my payment and left without incident. Phew
Overall, I would say their food is really not bad and they don't deserve their 2.8 Google rating. The 2 ladies really sabo the business la.
