One of the few places that serve both herbal and peppery BKT, and they’re good too. Always a Q at meal times, although service is very efficient so the wait is not long. Reasonable pricing for a non-hawker stall eating place.

Had a weekend dinner at Sin Heng Claypot Bak Kut Teh (BKT), located along the bustling streets of Joo Chiat. The restaurant is quite famous and popular among locals in the area. I have dined here several times already, and the food quality and quantity have always been consistently excellent.

Here are my top 3 must-order dishes at Sin Heng Claypot BKT. Firstly and most definitely is the Claypot BKT, their soup is the herbal variation, with a rich and fragrant flavor that is not too overpowering. The soup is refillable, and the pork ribs are always cooked to perfection, offering the right texture and chewiness. The portion size is generous for the price. They also offer variations with pork innards and tail, and a mix dry version.

Next is the Cereal Chicken, the portion is generous, with many chicken pieces fried to an even, crispy coating of cereal. The cereal chicken pairs extremely well with the hot, soupy Claypot BKT.

Last but not least is the Cai Po (Preserved Radish) Egg. This dish features a thick and fluffy omelette paired with crunchy cai po. It serves as a perfect complementary side to the previous two dishes, making for a hearty meal combination.

Beyond the food, the staff at Sin Heng Claypot BKT are friendly and very efficient. From queuing to ordering, getting condiments, serving, and payment, everything was hassle-free. I believe the restaurant has deep heritage and dates way back, with a display booth at the front showcasing their history, which is very interesting, which you can check it out while queueing.

The dining environment is clean with indoor seating, but it is not air-conditioned. It can get quite hot and humid during sunny afternoons, which might not be ideal while eating hot BKT soup. However, on rainy days and chilly nights, this conditions are perfect.

They have a small car parking area right in front of their stall reserved for customers, accommodating about 10 vehicles. The queue during dinner time, especially on weekends, can get pretty long. However, the food wait time is short, and the turnover is usually fast, making it worth the wait.

I highly recommend Sin Heng Claypot BKT to anyone looking for an authentic, hearty BKT experience to enjoy with friends and family.

Oh this packed such a good punch! The sambal here was really solid, spicy with a nice hae bi hiam savouriness in it. The brinjal was soft and nice, though the skin was cooked til a bit too hard.

Had this a pretty long time ago, and somehow I don’t remember it being as good as it was now. The Bak Kut Teh here was on the peppery side - just as how I liked it. For the small size, there was a good portion of pork ribs in it, with the meat being relatively tender (I’ve had way tougher ones elsewhere🫠). A good fix if you’re craving comfort food that is peppery, but I’ve got to admit that it’s one of the slightly pricier ones and there might be queue even after peak dinner hours!

First time at Sin Heng Claypot Bak Koot Teh, even though I have walked down Joo Chiat Road so many times for my entire life!

Saw some crowd at this food place so we decided to give it a go!

What we ordered:
-Bak Kut Teh (medium for $15)
-White Rice ($1): We wanted yam rice initially, but it was already sold out
-You Tiao ($2.50)
-Lime withe Prune Drink ($2)

The bak kut teh soup was a dark brown colour, however the tastes is not the herbal kind, but more of the pepperish kind, quite similar to songfa bkt i must say! The soups here are also refillable, and they give so much at one go (so much more than song fa)! Enjoyed the meal here!

Sin Heng's Special Bak Koot Teh($10) a herbal soup that's sweet, savoury and slightly thick. It's comes with pork rib, mushroom, liver, black fungus, baby corn, tofu skin and lettuce.

Fuyong Omelette($9). A slightly salty egg with lapchung, onions and spring onion which goes well with rice.

You Tiao ($2.50). It was crispy hard. Soak it in the soup and it'll absorb the soup and soften up.

Chrysanthemum tea by the pot ($4). Comes already sweetened.

Overall not too bad. Service was quick.

Available in 2 sizes, the small portion is enough for 3 pax to share with BKT. Serving took a little longer for this claypot noodles but it came piping hot in tasty thick gravy with pork slices and vegetables. It may get too salty on the buds hence I’d advise sharing this dish 》$6 / Small

The BKT consists of pork ribs, pig stomach, fried beancurd skin, straw mushroom and baby corn. The soup is like a fusion of herbal and pepper BKT, a combination of Malaysian and local styles. While the ribs were tender, the broth was not as flavourful and tasted more like soy sauce based. Soups are refillable upon request 》$10 / Small

Since 1983, this stall has been serving a herbal bak kut teh version that will appeal to those who prefer a lighter taste.
.
Their soup carries a pleasant medium strength of body, kept warm in the earthenware claypot. Has mild herbal sweet savoury flavour.
.
The smallest version has crisp lettuce with vegetal sweet flavour, large juicy button mushrooms with vegetal earthy herbal flavour, and decently tender pork ribs with meaty sweet savoury flavour.
.
The pickled salted mustard greens are juicy with a mild vegetal salty sweet flavour, and the requisite fluffy white rice is nicely grainy sweet in taste.
.
Part of their appeal here is the range of zi char dishes on the menu, making for a unique pairing with their BKT.

I seriously miss having a decent plate of Nasi Kandar back in Penang. Sadly there wasn’t much places in Singapore that offer good Nasi Kandar.

ABC Nasi Kandar is only the few one that you can find in Singapore, featuring lots of the curry dishes and you get to mix all the gravy to your plate.

I gotten the fried chicken, egg and okra. Their fried chicken will send to fried again so you could enjoy it hot. I must say the chicken was soft and juicy actually, not dry at all.

As I requested to mix all of the curry gravy, sadly the taste wasn’t strong enough like this I have in Penang.

But if you still hope to satisfy your Nasi Kandar craving in Singapore, ABC Nasi Kandar is the place you can go.
