Halal, meatless, and still packed with flavour? 🇰🇷🌱 @sautesaranghae is proving that plant-based Korean food can be just as satisfying!
Easties, swing by their Tampines 1 outlet and enjoy 1-for-1 mains + drinks with #BurppleBeyond! We tried the Kimchi Stew with Rice — super hearty, yet guilt-free, and even better with an egg & cheese add-on for extra richness. 😋✨
Since October 2020, this under-the-radar stall founded by Abdul Rahman Bin Aziz has been quietly serving up hearty meals.

Breakfast Prata Cravings.
Gave in to my prata craving this morning with a Plain Prata ($1.20) which was crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside and an Egg Prata ($1.80) that had a nice sweet, eggy flavour.
I like how they weren’t greasy at all, so even the health-conscious crowd can enjoy guilt-free. Paired them with fish curry that added a gentle heat and that signature savoury, fishy depth.
P.S. The prices are part of an early bird promo so once breakfast hours are over, they’ll revert to the usual.

[Simei, Singapore 🇸🇬]
Hawkers’ Street has recently opened a new food court outlet at Eastpoint Mall, which is just next to the MRT station. The food court is decorated in 1960s hawker street themed style with a range of well-known hawker stalls.
Top 1 Home Made Noodles is a popular stall from Beauty World Food Centre, well-known for its ban mian. I was surprised to find out that it has opened a branch outlet at this newly opened food court.
Handmade Meatball Ban Mian (Soup) 手工肉丸板面(汤) (S$5.90)
The noodles was soft and tender while the soup was light and flavourful. Tender meatballs. Topped with braised mushroom, and anchovies.
Other stalls in the food court include:
- Tai Wah Pork Noodle (Michelin Guide)
- Tai Seng Fish Soup (Michelin Bib Gourmand, from Yuhua Village)
- King of Fried Rice

The chicken chop had a nicely grilled, well-seared crust that gave way to juicy, tender meat. It was served with JOFA peppercorn sauce, though the sauce leaned a little thin — I’d have preferred a bolder, thicker consistency to really bring out the flavours.
Sides were decent but the portions felt a bit small. If you’re arriving with an appetite, you might find yourself wishing for a more generous serving 》$8.90
Love the dessert, but not the salad
Had a bite at @nipponbite Crispy Chicken Katsu Onigiri, which intrigued me with its peanut butter sauce, the only item on the menu featuring this option. It was an interesting combination of ingredients. The onigiri is neatly wrapped with pearl rice, chicken luncheon meat, fluffy tamagoyaki, crispy chicken katsu, and peanut butter sauce, all within a large piece of seaweed.
The chicken katsu was thicc, juicc, and crispy, with a clean-tasting greasiness. The egg had a fluffy texture but was plain in flavour, adding some sweetness or savouriness would have improved it. The chicken luncheon meat was sharply savoury, but the thin cut felt lacking. A thicker slice would have made the bite more tastisfying. The peanut butter sauce was overflowing, just look at the amount of it. The nutty sauce leaned toward smooth and creamy rather than chunky.
Eating it all together, I expected the chicken luncheon meat to overpower the other ingredients, as it is usually quite salty. However, the tender chicken katsu and strong nutty peanut butter took center stage, overshadowing the egg and luncheon meat. Nonetheless, it was pretty yummy, though I made a mess eating it.
Set consists of onigiri, one side, and one drink. I used GrabPay for 15% off, bringing the total to $9.26.
When talking about onigiri, most would think of the typical triangular rice ball wrapped in seaweed, commonly seen in mainland Japan. That is not wrong, but in Okinawa, onigiri is sandwich-style. Influenced by Western elements while staying true to its Asian roots, it is wrapped in large seaweed encasing rice, SPAM luncheon meat, and tamago.

For the side, I had the choice of fries or croquette and went with the latter. The creamy croquette was crispy on the outside and piping hot inside. I expected the filling to be flowy, but as seen in the pictures, there was no oozing or melting, rather it resembled deep-fried mashed potato instead. At least the sweetness of corn came through.
For drinks, I chose Honey Lemon because it is sweet, refreshing, and zesty, making it the next best drink resembling Okinawan shikuwasa juice.
Take me back to Okinawa please~

Came by for a post-workout dinner, and luckily they were still accepting orders at 9.30pm. Between the three of us, we got the Maggi Goreng Set ($9.20) - which came with maggi goreng (added chicken for $1.70), Mini Masala Chicken, and Teh Tarik (+50cents for iced) - and Butter Chicken ($7.70) with three plain prata ($1.40 each).
First off, the maggi goreng lacked flavour except saltiness. The chicken that we added was just unevenly sized chunks of dry chicken breast. And while the masala chicken was alright, we were puzzling over the butter chicken for awhile as it tasted not at all creamy and nothing like the butter chicken we were familiar with. Very strange. The crispy pratas were the only saving grace of the meal.
