Finally went down to porridge at coffeehouse with my colleagues as she always recommended for ordering the porridge before 11 a.m. as waiting time goes up 15 to 30 mins only but after peak hours, waiting time goes up to 1 - 2 hrs according to her. Pork and Sliced Fish (Small Size - $4) really up to the standard as they provided a lot of ingredients and serving size such as minced pork, pork liver and sliced fish. It's so worth it to order their porridge once in a blue moon if you felt that you just wanna eat something light. The ingredients for prawn mee such as minced pork meat, pork liver and also sliced fish was really freshly made daily. Porridge got that thick texture with adding half-cooked egg got creamy texture. The taste for porridge was really got old school style and also really want to order pork and chicken version next time.

Perfect for breakfast, one of my favourite Pork Porridge, that is worth waiting

Location: Johore Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge, 638 Veerasamy Rd, Singapore 200638

This stall attracts a constant crowd and is often sold old before its closing time. We waited more than 45 mins upon ordering at 8am just to get our hands on these comforting and satisfying bowls of thick Hainanese porridge on a rainy weekend morning.

The porridge has a thick and grainy texture which gives a homely feel. There are four main ingredients to their porridge - pork, chicken, cuttlefish and sliced fish with an additional option to add an egg or century egg. The standard pork porridge comes with a generous amount of minced pork, lean meat, pig stomach, liver, tung choy (preserved Chinese cabbage), fried shallots and dough fritters while their ‘all in’ option has additional ingredients such as chicken, cuttlefish, sliced fish, century egg and egg.

Pork Porridge with Century Egg 》$4.50 / Big
All In 》$5.50

Definitely contender for best porridge in Singapore. My waiting time on a weekend lunch time is approximately 50mins. I saw a telephone number listed. U can actually call in to place your order, so don't need to wait here so long.

The ingredients were all fresh and the entire bowl was just a burst of Umami-Ness.

The all-in porridge comes with egg, century egg, cuttlefish, batang fish, minced pork, pig liver etc etc etc. Literally all in.

Btw, This coffee shop is filled with lots of good good, the pork liver noodles, fried chicken and fishhead steamboat is all good here.

PSA call in advance to order then just collect when you arrive

So they will ask you if you want innards. I tot it's like add on but apparently no. Nonetheless because I didn't get innards I got a lot of pork slices and minced pork so not complaining

The food was really good but I didn't have the best experience here. They told me the wait was 25mins, in the end waited for 45mins. Standing there no seat...

Nonetheless, the porridge was clean but spiked with sweetness and sourness from the pickled veg. Ingredients were cooked well too. It wasn't super savoury but the balance of flavours were immaculate and super addictive. The spring onions and fried spring onions were very fragrant too despite leaving it there for a while.

They honestly deserve a queue, I would have thought they're good enough to be worth 25mins queue. But 45mins is really pushing it. Still it's one of the best and most unique yet familiar ones I've had

The best time to come is on a weekday morning. I arrived just slightly before eight and there were plenty of empty tables around.
.
There are different combinations of pork, chicken, sliced fish and cuttlefish with a basic bowl (no egg) starting at $3.50.
.
I ordered the pork porridge and added-on both an egg and century egg for $4.50. After making payment, I was given a slip of paper with a number on it. I sat at a nearby table and waited for the corresponding number to flash on the digital screen to pick up my order.
.
The number I got was 19 while the number on the screen is 16. It took about five minutes for my order to be ready.
.
My bowl of porridge came topped with youtiao, spring onion, and fried shallots. Other than the egg and century egg, I discovered pork slices, pig's liver and even two precious slices of pig's stomach below.
.
Being a typical bowl of Hainanese porridge, the grainy texture is thus not as smooth as Cantonese porridge but the richness of the egg yolk gave it some creaminess.
.
Taste wise, the porridge is well-seasoned without the need for more seasonings. I even tasted tung choi (preserved vegetable) in it. Light soya sauce and pepper are provided in squeeze bottles but I did not touch them.

I decided to give Johor Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge a try as Mui Siong Bak Chor Mee is closed when I went down on Sat (😩) and I can’t decide what is more surprising: 1) having to wait 1 hour plus for the porridge, or 2) how gooood it actually is😍!

I ordered Mixed Pork Porridge with Century Egg ($4.50) which comes with sliced pork, meat ball, pork liver, pork stomach and century egg. Although this is not the super fine kind of porridge, it is still very smooth, fragrant and flavourful.

The pork liver is slightly pink and crunchy, and the handmade meat ball is well seasoned. Each component is well-executed and there is no porky aftertaste. My only grouse is that the youtiao is quite soggy - wish there is more crisp to it.

I tried this without any expectations and I must say that I’m pretty impressed - glad the long wait paid off!

I heard these folks were good, but didn't expect so good. Yes the porridge and the pork were fine, but their trick really is an old one - they whack flavours, in the form of lard, garlic, spring onion, tung choy and a raw egg. And humans can't resist these.

What you can expect is Hainanese style of porridge, which is of a thicker and grainier texture than Cantonese style which is cooked till very smooth.

Rest assured this is a nourishing, filling, belly-warming bowl, and you would find the texture much-thicker than the usual ones.

The grains are still slightly distinguishable, but yet it is overly still smooth.

Had #porkporridge on a rainy day lunchtime today with my colleague. This has been on my food radar for sometime. Happy with it. $3 per bowl and has generous portion of ingredients. First time trying so didnt know to upsize is just $0.50 for Big. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So we chose small. This is at 638 Veerasamy Road. Its near Jalan Besar Mrt Exit B.

When we talk about porridge we think the bland old dish that we eat for warmth and when we are not feeling well. Well thats not the case for this porridge found at Veerasamy Road which to my surprise it not boring at all.
I had the porridge with pork and egg and I have to say the taste and texture was amazing. The porridge was hot and taste absolutely heavenly with pork and egg to make it into congee. Match made in heaven. And the textures from the fried bread, meat, chopped spring onions, tangchye and fragrant fried shallots was just right. My recommended place to go visit.

Pro Tip: You can add amazing fried chicken from the store next door at the same food center with your porridge to make it a sinful combo.

Heed Tastemaker Michelle Kayla Tey's advice and come here early to snag a bowl of silky porridge, as this humble dish commands a long queue and sells out just after lunch time (or earlier, if it's a rainy day). Go for the crowd favourite Pork Porridge (from $2.50) that comes with a generous portion of minced meat, liver, chopped onions, tung choy (salted vegetable), fried shallots and a dough fritter (you tiao). Tastemaker Vanessa Kou describes the thick, smooth and exceedingly satisfying porridge to be surprisingly flavourful on its own, and also recommends adding an egg ($0.50) to stir in and further enhance the taste. Pro tip: Want to beat the queue? Call ahead and order to take away your porridge!
Avg Price: $5 per person

Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner; Johor Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge at Veerasamy Road stocks a wide variety that is perfect for any weather - but especially comforting for the rainy days we have been experiencing recently.

A must-order and their signature, please try their Pork Porridge ($2.50/$3) that comes with minced meat, innards, chopped onions, tangchye (preserved salted vegetable) and fragrant fried shallots. Thick, smooth and exceedingly satisfying, the homely bowl was surprisingly flavourful. And similarly, the other combinations such as Slice Fish and Cuttle Fish ($2.50/$3) was nicely balanced and cooked just about right with the fresh ingredients where in each spoonful you can still detect the creamy grains. Loving the simplicity and the warmth it brings! Oh and be sure to add an egg to enhance the full-bodied congee.

[Do expect a long wait at times in the afternoon, but well worth it!]

Johor Road Boon Kee Porridge - Pork & Liver Porridge (💵S$3.50) : Pork, Minced Meat, Liver topped with ginger, radish, spring onion, Fried Chinese Donut aka YouTiao & a raw egg (Top up extra S$0.50). 🍲

Porridge & Congee are only reserved for rainy or days when one is feeling under the weather. But this, this is comforting. As good as those you find in Hong Kong. 😋

ACAMASTIPS💮: I cannot live without eggs, Honestly I don't know who can. It's the foundation of food, civilisation actually. 🥚
So I implore you to add the egg, burst the yolk & let its richness flow all over. Gosh the experience of it is so arousing. 🖖🏻

I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 mins for congee, and this just broke the record and doubled it at that. It was 1pm on that fateful day.

The portion is generous for its price ($4.50 for the pork+fish+egg+century egg option) and the pork slices and pork liver were expertly cooked to tenderness and creaminess respectively. Spring onion, fragrant fried shallots, and savoury tung choy (preserved vegetables) were also thrown in for added oomph. Worth trying if you're in the area, but do head down earlier to beat the lunch crowd. Closes at 3pm.

My order of Pork + Fish ($3.50) comes with pork meat, liver and an egg! So so good! I never had such good porridge before!! Stir in the raw egg vigorously for a smooth velvety finish, along with some crunchy Cai Por, fried onion and spring onion.
Really good stuff!

This is a must-have every time we're lunching at Veerasamy (other than the fried chicken, of course) rain or shine. Every spoonful of this extra smooth porridge comes with different surprise bits of ginger, preserved radish (chye poh), spring onion, fried shallots as well as slices of pork, minced meat, liver and stomach. Absolutely worth the wait! Top-up $0.50 if you wish to add an egg.

Awesome remedy to a week of cold. You need to order this!
