Mini Buns Double Cheese 迷你包-双芝士 (cream cheese & Parmesan 奶油乳酪 & 帕尔马干酪 (S$4)

Visited the favourite place yet again recently and found another two (2) items on the menu that we hadn’t really come across whilst scrolling through the online POS system to submit our orders. Have been trying out their various rendition of their donuts since their release over the years — did not recall that they had carried a Matcha & Cream version of their bomboloni-style donuts so found ourselves giving this a go; all whilst having an Espresso Tonic (also a recent addition to the menu here) to pair it with.

The donuts from Brawn & Brains Coffee are ones that we love for its softness, yet carrying a bit of tension to chew apart — themselves being just aptly dense and comes rolled in sugar that provides a sugary and crusty exterior for a bit of sweetness and contrast of textures. Piped inside the donut would be the matcha-infused cream filling; we liked how the matcha-infused cream largely focuses on the bitter undertones of the tea — very much the starting note that hits one’s tastebuds as they sink their teeth into the Matcha & Cream Donut. The cream itself comes pretty thick; rich of the inherent flavours of matcha without being overly sweetened, creamy or milky — would work fairly well with matcha lovers for the most part. The Espresso Tonic in the meanwhile was something that we were really looking forward to have — having been ones whom would make an order for Espresso Tonic elsewhere at establishments that offers it; definitely happy to finally see it included in the menu here and the version here definitely hits the spot for us with the tonic water adding a contrast to the coffee with a complexity in the depth of flavours. More options to add to the list of items that we would be considering to order whenever we make our visits here!

Found at the corner of the first floor, surprisingly manned by a bunch of young dudes. Waited about 20min for the food, says alot about their popularity. Food-wise, I liked the sogginess and wokhey of the noodles, and there were substantial squids, pork belly, and eggs as well. Remember to add on the lard! The only thing I was disappointed by was the chilli - was a rather weak punch and I would have preferred more spice and sourness.

The Lu Rou Fan ($3.50) was surprisingly substantial in portion and taste wise it was also pretty good. Lots of meat in a delicious sweet dark sauce, coupled with a sizeable portion of greens make for a satisfying dish. Would return to try their other cuts of meat; the pork cheek one looks especially tantalising!

Another renowned store in Golden Mile, this time serving a dry beehoon with chilli sauce. Think Satay Beehoon but instead of satay sauce it's a chilli mixture sauce. Taste was pretty good, but for $4.50 i thought the ingredients could be more generous. Would eat this if I had the craving and queue was short, but this isn't a store I would travel all the way to Golden Mile for.

Accidentally stumbled upon this store with a long line at 10am and being the Singaporean that I am, I joined the queue. When the store only sells one dish - chee cheong fun in various styles, in this case - you know it's gotta be good. Besides the classic shrimp and charsiu cheong fun, they also offered interesting varieties like Chai Poh and Hongkong--style. As my stomach had limited space for only one dish, I went with the Hongkong-style ($3.50) - freshly made and steamed in front of you, the generous portion of thin silky smooth cheong fun was rolled and then drenched in a combination of sesame sauce and a sweet sauce. I added on the fried shallots, spring onion, and chilli and the result was just a flavour explosion in my mouth. So, so, SO good. Now I'm salivating just dreaming of the next time I return to try their other cheong fun renditions. Be prepared to queue; the chef only prepares two at a time and people WILL order multiple.

Cheery and friendly bakery selling a wide variety of classic as well as modern pastries. They were laid out so prettily in the display shelf and I almost couldn't decide which ones I wanted because all of them looked so inviting! Eventually chose the Lemon Tart and Black Sesame & Yuzu Madeleine (both $3). The tartness of the lemon custard and yuzu filling was on point - citrusy but not too tart, complementing the sweetness of the tart cookie base and madeleine sponge cake well. The black sesame was a surprise hit, didn't know it could go well with yuzu. Overall, would definitely return for a good pastry brunch or even to buy a whole box of their offerings.

I don't have much else to say about them already hahaha. I started eating them when they were a fledgling business.

Much like a wonderful cross between a classic Japanese-style soufflé pancake and Taiwanese castella cake, Croissand Cafe’s Fluffy Castella Pancake ($7) was perfectly sweetened. Super light and fluffy, the soft baked dessert had a very pleasant airy, pillowy, moist texture with a heady eggy aroma. Served with maple syrup, icing sugar, and a sizeable pat of butter, this was a dream to dig into (be sure to eat it quickly). The casserole dish can also easily feed two to three people and takes around 20 to 30 minutes to be served. A must-order if you are there but note that it is only available from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Brewed from TWG Earl Grey tea and peach syrup, the Earl Grey Peach Foam Tea ($7) was a delicious thirst-quencher as well~

personal faves were the matcha and nutella

Opens at 10.30am and usually sold out by 1pm on weekends.

Chi le ma is a very popular store, queuing time can be as long as 45mins. Fish here is very fresh and its so affordable as well.Even the fish stomach have no bad taste whatsoever.

$5.50/$6.50 is very affordable. There's even some tanghoon(vermicelli) under the fish. Vermicelli only available for Chopped chilli and black bean set meal.

The salted black beans is my favourite. So flavourful and pairs so well with the fresh steamed fish.

The original sauce is much lighter in flavour.

The chopped chilli was rather spicy, just look at those chilli seeds. Ouch to my tongue

Set meal comes with:
1) 1x Fish
2) 1X steamed egg
3) 1X rice

Overall, very very satisfied with the price point and the freshness of the fish.
