Operating from November 2020 till May 2023, Jumbadog was a casual American style diner eatery specialising in foot-long 'jumbo' hot dogs.

The base is a fluffy soft long brioche bread with buttery bready sweet flavour, and your choice of foot-long sausage (chicken, beef, pork, chicken cheese, or mixed) with smoky meaty salty savoury sweet flavour.

First has toppings of crisp red onions, juicy pickled gherkins, thick tomato ketchup, and creamy mustard, with vegetal tangy sour sweet earthy spice flavour.

Second has tender minced beef chili con carne, crisp red onions, and thick cheese sauce, with vegetal sweet meaty savoury salty spice herbal cheesy flavour.

Third has juicy sauerkraut pickled cabbage, and creamy mustard, with vegetal sour tangy sweet spice flavour.

Fourth has thin truffle oil, tender sautéed button mushrooms, crumbly minced hard boiled chicken eggs, and rich cream cheese, with vegetal earthy savoury eggy sweet milky flavour.

Fifth has flaky mala peppercorn spice powder, juicy sauerkraut pickled cabbage, juicy pickled jalapenos, crisp spring onions, and creamy sesame sauce, with spicy salty vegetal sour tangy sweet nutty flavour.

Sixth has tender sautéed caramelised white onions, juicy pickled gherkins, thick sour cream, crisp spring onions, and thick cheese sauce, with vegetal earthy sweet sour milky herbal cheesy flavour.

First things off the bat, the Signature Tenderthighs ($13) is DAMM GOOD. Piping hot straight out of the fryer, we could already tell that this was gonna be a treat. The crust was extra extra crunchy, and you better not leave it aside - the batter was so damn flavourful and unique with the Chinese-y taste of clove and five spice. The chicken was so juicy and tender and I loved the tinge of sweetness from the caramelised outer layer. Overall, amazing fried chicken and easily one of the best in Singapore. This will be on my mind for the next few weeks.

We also had the Angus Cheeseburger ($16) which was honestly pretty good. The beef patty was bursting with flavour and juices, with the buttered brioche buns firm with a crisp outer layer. Unexpectedly delicious.

Don't scoff at the fries too, the oregano spices have it an interesting and unique twist that worked pretty well!

Chicken Cutlet Fried Rice@$7

Old school western food, and has been around a long time. Always see alot of people eating this from back then till even know.

Bolognese pasta is above average, quite oily but tasty. Ate it with some plain salad at home so it's less jelak. Wouldn't pay for this at full price, though.. Cranberry scone is buttery, crumbly and bursting with flavour! Keen to try their other desserts

Birdfolks is one such establishment, with a 1for1 for their Signature Fried Chicken or main plates.

We decided to have their signature Fried Tenderthighs, and a mentaiko Chicken Burger.

The Fried Tenderthighs comes with 3 large strips of Fried Chicken Thigh Meats, fries and salad greens.

The Mentaiko Chicken Burger comes with only 2 Strips, but comes with brioche Buns and a generous amount of Mentaiko Sauce. And also comes with Fries.

The Fried Tenderthighs are definitely more value for money @$14.

The fried chicken thigh strips tasted really good, tasted like it was well marinated with herbs and spices. It was damn crispy and the chicken fillets were damn juicy.

For the 1for1, definitely value for money for me.

Note to Burpple beyond users: the fish and chips ($9.50) with forest mushroom soup ($3.50) actually only adds up to $13 but there is a $1.50 Burpple surcharge if you use the “1-for-1 deal”. Enquired with the female staff on duty and they only replied $13 is if you get 1 plate but it is $14.50 if you use the deal which means it is really not 1-for-1 actually. Overall taste is ok but feel that offer wording can be corrected to 2 for $14.50 so as to not mislead customers.

Today’s special — half a dozen oysters 🦪, the perfect dish to kick off the Easter 🐣 weekend.

P.S. Its such a delight to slurp up these briny, creamy and plump rough-shelled munchies. 😋

This comes with mushroom soup. Decided to take away and eat at home. With Burpple, I got one more set free. Food is quite good. Really worth it.

This humble, no-frills eatery sits below a block of HDB flats, serving buttery-rich foie gras at wallet-friendly price.

Price: $9.90 (got for $6++ as part of student meal)

Rice was slightly soggy and I felt that too much water was involved in the cooking.
Regardless, i let the sous vide egg break into the rice to provide a wet and creamy texture for the rice.
Beef portion was moderate and provided a decent taste when combined with the mentaiko sauce.
As part of the student meal, this was pretty worth it given the increasing food prices in SG.

Grade: B+
