Was skeptical of the name but this really surprised us with its distinct floral pandan aroma and almost buttery creamy finish. Bought a bag of beans home to enjoy and it was just as good as in store!

Hearty and filling spread with sourdough, poached eggs, maple espresso bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and pork sausage.

Went with the unique stewed beef option and enjoyed the perfectly poached eggs and well-marinated beef. The brioche was airy albeit dry, and could do with more hollandaise sauce or butter for added moisture to the dish.

And no meal is complete without dessert, the warm Coconut Milk Pancakes were pleasantly perfumed. Not the fuwa fuwa type but decently pillowy and soft with a good amount of moisture locked in. Crowned with fresh sweet mixed berries, cream cheese and drizzles of maple syrup, it was a more than satisfying treat that is perfect for sharing.

We can’t leave without having one of their rice dishes and got the Nasi Goreng Iga Hitam. Packing a flavourful punch, the squid ink fried rice was nicely seasoned with spice and held a lingering umami, seafood-y kick together with a smokey kiss from the wok. So shiok but a tad too much heat for me as it does build up. The 6-hour braised beef ribs were great, not too gamey and sufficiently tender. The main also came with sambal, prawn cracker and a sunny side up. (Psst it is on Burpple 1-for-1 at selected outlets!)

Lohei season comes and goes way too quickly!

More than just their speciality blends, Tanamera Coffee also delivers a solid Traditional Lohei (starting from $45.80) for the festive period (with pre-orders available on their website). Crunchy fresh shredded vegetables, savoury smoked salmon slices, sweet mandarin orange wedges, crispy golden crackers and well-balanced plum sauce all prepared in-house. One of the better CNY prosperity toss salads I had as I prefer their lighter-tasting condiments and a generous amount of salmon.

Thanks @burpple for the invite and @tanameracoffeesg for feeding us~ Will need to be back for that bomb peanut sauce (they blend it with cashew, ingenious)!

Celebrate CNY with your family with @tanameracoffeesg 'sTraditional Lou Hei Set ($45.80)! It was a scrumptious and generous one, as it was made in house. I love how they were very generous with the smoked salmon pieces; definitely enough for everyone 😂

If you do pop by the Robertson Quay outlet, do try their Squid Ink Rice ($20.80) as well! I absolutely loved every part of the dish as they were all well executed. The fried rice itself had a strong wok hei, with a strong savoury seafood flavour. The spice level was also just nice. The beef ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and they were so well marinated. The sambal was very aromatic, perfect with the crackers!

For the sweet tooth, the Coconut Milk Pancake ($15.80) is good for sharing and the pancake is soft with a rich aromatic coconut fragrance. However, I do wish that the pancake was less dense and fluffier. If not, it is a good dessert!

Thank you @burpple for inviting and @tanameracoffeesg for the food! We enjoyed ourselves very much 😁

The Coconut Milk Pancakes came with mixed berries, a dollop of cream cheese and maple syrup drizzle. I love the subtle whiff of coconut fragrance within the pancake and although the pancake is on the denser/thicker side, it is not dry.

The Nasi Goreng Iga Hitam features squid ink fried rice with braised beef ribs and a sunny side up. The fried rice is packed with umami and it is surprisingly spicy - definitely delivered a kick there. The beef ribs are braised thoroughly in a sweet and savoury sauce. No fried rice is complete without a fried egg and the sunny side up brings everything together nicely. Lastly, special shout out to the terasi chilli which is shiok and savoury - goes really well with the crackers!

Kickstarting the 龙 weekend with the Traditional Lohei from Tanamera Coffee - can’t really go wrong with crunchy golden pillow crackers and savoury smoked salmon!

Opened in June 2000 by Thomas Wong and Shirley Soh, this chill cafe is a great space to read and reflect.
