The latest reviews from real people you can trust

Whenever I find myself in Joo Chiat in the morning, I’m always spoilt for choice. But one dish usually reigns supreme—Mr and Mrs Mohgan’s Super Crispy Prata.

As the name suggests, the crisp factor is unreal, and trust me, one is never enough. My go-to order? A kosong + telur combo. The default comes with fish curry, but here’s a pro tip: ask for a side of sambal with ikan bilis. The combination of fish curry + sambal with prata? Absolutely next-level comfort food.

After all the indulgent CNY feasting, we were craving something different and stumbled upon Masala Tandoor for dinner. Is it just me, or does the East Coast/Marine Parade area have a surprising number of Indian restaurants? With barely any social media buzz, we relied on Google Reviews to decide, and it turned out to be a great find.

We started with the Amritsari Fish, boneless nuggets battered with a medley of spices, before moving on to sharing plates of Aloo Gobi and Butter Chicken, paired with Chicken Dum Biryani and Chicken Tikka Biryani. And of course, no Indian meal is complete without freshly baked Garlic Naan, perfect for mopping up all that rich, flavorful gravy.

Boss and staff were so friendly, patient and helpful. 1 for 1 is for all main courses on their Indian and Indian-Chinese menus. The Burpple deal was easily redeemed with no frills.
Food was really good - butter chicken and garlic spicy chicken both went so well with Naan and Rice.
There is no GST, complimentary water and complimentary crackers with this yummy Thai-like chilli sauce with it.
I would definitely recommend this place and come again.

Craving some spice?

Head over to Masala Tandoor on East Coast Rd for a fusion of traditional North Indian flavours with a modern twist.

Tucked away in a cosy corner of the coffee shop, this hidden gem serves up affordable, authentic North Indian dishes that’ll keep you coming back for more!

#Burpplebeyond fam, don’t miss out on their 1-for-1 main dish deal—it’s too good to pass up! Try their fragrant biryani, packed with flavour and generous portions. And the butter chicken? Out of this world. Tender, rich, and pure perfection!

We were strolling in Joo Chiat and saw them open. It was a surprise but we just ordered two slices. Still very good to me, but the fiancee felt the standard has dropped since Mr Mohgan passed away.

Head down to Butter & Spice for their $49.90 Burpple Set on Burpple Beyond which includes 2 mains of choice (from lamb, seafood, egg, chicken, and vegetable categories) along with 2 beers.

Feast on authentic North Indian cuisine like their Butter Chicken, a rich and creamy dish bursting with flavours. Dip their garlic and butter naan into that sweet and spicy gravy and wash it down with a cold refreshing beer.

Back to Mr and Mrs Mohgan's for their crispy prata. Although missing Mr Mohgan now, their prata is still as crispy as before. Everything else feels the same. Pratas are crispy on the outside, stretchy and fluffy on the inside. I always go for the fish curry but I noticed they don't serve homemade sambal anymore.

Plain Prata 》$1.50
Plaster Prata 》$2

Mr & Mrs Mohgan Super Crispy Roti Prata!

One of the crispiest prata in Singapore! Have eaten this countless times, and still not sick of it! My favourite prata brunch to have along the Joo Chiat Road stretch!

We visited on a late Saturday morning (around 9.45am), and it took almost 45 minutes for the food to be served!

I super love how they can make the prata so crispy! Even the Egg prata! Usually egg prata elsewhere are all soggy and soft, but this was sooo crispy! Ask for fish curry here (if you do not like lamb curry like me)!

Tip: Head straight to order the prata when you arrive! Find seats ONLY after you have ordered your prata!

Location: 300 Joo Chiat Rd, Tin Yeang Restaurant, Singapore 427551

One of the highlights at Desi Firangi is the Pani Puri, a popular Indian street food. These crispy shells filled with spicy, tangy, and refreshing ingredients create an explosion of flavors in every bite.

The Masala Chicken is another crowd-pleaser - juicy chicken drumettes marinated in a flavorful blend of spices, fried to perfection, and tossed with a mildly hot tangy sauce.

If you're in the mood for something unique, try the Enchiladas Lamb. This dish combines Indian and Mexican flavors by wrapping tender, slow-cooked minced lamb in soft tortillas, smothering them in a zesty sauce, and topping them with melted cheese. It's a truly mouthwatering delight that showcases the best of both cuisines.

Desi Firangi also offers a twist on traditional dishes, such as the Pav Bhaji Fondue. This popular Indian street food is served fondue-style, allowing you to dip warm, buttered pav buns into a rich and flavorful medley of mashed vegetables, spices, and buttery goodness. It's a playful and delicious take on a classic dish.

For pizza lovers, the Butter Chicken Pizza is a must-try. This unique creation combines the creamy and aromatic flavors of butter chicken with a crispy pizza crust. A delightful fusion of Indian and Italian cuisines that will leave you craving for more.
