Hadn’t been to Old Hen Coffee Bar for quite a while β€” wasn’t really in our mind to drop by but got reminded about their existence whilst passing some streets to head to where we originally intended to head to and decided to divert ourselves back to this familiar spot again. Seems like these folks had switched up their seating layout a while ago; gone was the wooden communal table and the wooden high table that once provided the window seating that faces outside of the cafe β€” a cushioned bench seating can be found backfacing the window, with the tables now better accommodating to patrons that swing by in pairs instead. Notwithstanding those changes, there is still a sense of familiarity within the space that stayed recognisable over all these years; not sure if we are getting old, but revisiting those places that we have frequented in the past just brings back some calmness of simpler times that we have had in the days that we visited these places.

Old Hen Coffee Bar has always been a spot that is best know for their bottled cold brews ever since they have started operations β€” their cold brew bottles having changed a number of times over the years, but their branding on their bottles had still remained to be fairly recognisable and even iconic over the years. Turns out, they had just introduced their new Honey Oat Latte bottled brew during our most recent visit there; a dairy-free beverage, the Honey Oat Latte features honey sourced from The Rare Honey Company β€” we had also previously visited Goldies at Stirling Road, which is a cafe run by The Rare Honey Company that also retails their raw honey in-store as well. For those familiar with Old Hen Coffee Bar, their Cold Brew White has been noted to be a sweetened beverage β€” the flavours also being rather consistent over the years; whilst most places serve their bottled Oat Cold Brews without any added sweetness, the Honey Oat Latte sees that familiar level of sweetness coming from the addition of honey. We recalled the floral aroma of the honey in the offerings at Goldies to be rather evident and the same could be said about the Honey Oat Latte β€” these same notes run at the back of the tongue as the finishing notes to the coffee. Considering the level of sweetness of the Honey Oat Latte though, the grainy notes of oat milk are not quite as obvious here as compared to the unsweetened Honey Oat Latte that we had tried elsewhere β€” the cuppa still carrying more of a nutty note amidst the sweetness which we felt to be rather balanced. Definitely one to go for those whom are ardent fans of Old Hen Coffee Bar’s bottled cold brew coffees, and would probably suit those whom have a thing with their Cold Brew White!

Was recommended by a friend and suggested this restaurant for my recent reunion with close friends. Don’t judge the restaurant by the run down facade and poorly decorated interior. Serving both vegetarian and non vegetarian North and South Indian food, the menu is impressive and the food is AMAZINGLY delicious. Best of all… it doesnt hurt the wallet. The restaurant is rather small, so making a reservation is highly recommended.

My partner wanted to get his daily coffee fix and since we were in the area, we decided to pop by SYIP! Ordered their Iced White ($6) and Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte ($7.50) to go – paid a total of $14.72 after factoring in GST (9%).

For the size of the drinks, I do think there are better options out there that gives you more bang for the buck. You do however get drinks that are very aesthetically-pleasing. The matcha was unsweetened and it blended well with the milk to give a smooth consistency. It took quite a bit of effort though, to get the matcha thoroughly mixed with the strawberry bits at the bottom. (Imagine vigourous swirling of the cup)

This ranks second for my favourite matcha strawberry lattes πŸ˜‹ I don’t have any reviews for the Iced White but this is the second time my partner has ordered this from SYIP so I suppose it must be good!

Fish & Chips with a Japanese fusion twist at @fryingfishclub !

Instead of the usual Dory or Haddock, they are using Shiro Maguro (White Tuna)! Shiro Maguro has a more firm and meatier texture!

-Nori Fish and Chips: I love the infusion of seaweed into the batter! This is served with asian slaw and fries!

-Spicy Fish and Chips: This was quite spicy for me!!! For someone who does eat malaxiangguo haha! But ordered this because of the kani salad! It comes with fries too! We both loved the crispy fries! Nicely fried!

-Iced Lemon Peach

I'm back at this charming stall. It's very generous, but also very oily.

I'm back at this charming stall. Unfortunately this dish, which I normally love, wasn't great.

This time we took the chance to try their π˜½π™§π™€π™¬π™£ 𝘽π™ͺπ™©π™©π™šπ™§ π™‹π™–π™£π™˜π™šπ™©π™©π™– π™‡π™žπ™£π™œπ™ͺπ™žπ™£π™š (π™ͺ.π™₯. $22) 🍝 The linguine was served in an amber-brown pool of yuzu miso sauceβœ¨πŸ‹ with 3 thin slices of crispy pork belly beautifully plated atop, garnished with mustard mayo, mustard caviar and crispy sage πŸ₯“πŸŒΏ. We’re never ones to order pasta at cafes because oftentimes they’re surfeiting and hard to finish but this pasta just had us going at it 𝙣𝙀𝙣-𝙨𝙩𝙀π™₯! 🀀 You can’t describe the sauce as sour per say, it’s savory and flavorful with just a slight π™—π™§π™žπ™œπ™π™©π™£π™šπ™¨π™¨ β˜€οΈ from the yuzu that makes it so palatable🀌🏻We really loved this one and would definitely re-order it. 🫢🏻

Syip is probably one of our 𝙒𝙀𝙨𝙩-π™§π™šπ™«π™žπ™¨π™©π™šπ™™ cafes ever. Their Owen branch recently launched a 𝙨π™ͺπ™₯π™šπ™§-𝙬𝙀𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙑π™ͺπ™£π™˜π™ π™¨π™šπ™© and we had to go down and check it out!
.
They have 2 options:
🌻 1 π™’π™–π™žπ™£ + 1 π™™π™§π™žπ™£π™  ($22++)
🌻 1 π™’π™–π™žπ™£ + 1 π™™π™§π™žπ™£π™  + 1 π™™π™šπ™¨π™¨π™šπ™§π™© ($27++) (which is so worth? since u can order their famous tiramisu!)
For drinks we got their iced matcha 🍡 and iced dirty matcha β˜•οΈ which tasted okie, but a little diluted 🫠
.
We’ve never had a bad dish at SYIP so far that’s for sure and would definitely recommend it!

(80 cents?) I didn't managed to get trying their red bean flavour previously but luckily I managed to buy one for trying. Red Bean taste quite sweet tbh but then still need to eat when in warm.

The chicken nanban salad ($18.50) is a huge portion main or can be a sharing side ✨
