Clean, crisp and quietly confident. The snapper had that golden skin that crackled just right, with tender flesh underneath. The yuzu miso was bright and punchy, enough to lift the dish without overpowering it. Asparagus added a fresh crunch that kept things light. Simple, balanced and easy to enjoy ใ€‹$36

The mafaldine had that perfect chewy bite with ruffled edges that clung onto all the flavour. It came slicked in garlicky chilli oil, more hum than heat but still aromatic. The crab was sweet and generous and the zucchini added a fresh crunch that broke up the richness nicely ใ€‹$28

Didnโ€™t think cabbage could hit like this. Charred, smoky, tender and had those crispy bits that make you keep picking at it. The anchovies gave it that salty crunch and the asiago added this creamy, nutty layer that pulled everything together. A rare find that punches above its weight ใ€‹$17

Crunchy on the outside, crabby on the inside. These shiok little bites hit all the right notes. Rich, creamy and packed with actual crab, not filler. The miso mayoโ€™s like the atas cousin of tartar sauce, itโ€™s salty, smooth and addictive ใ€‹$15

This one came out looking simple, but itโ€™s got layers. Hamachi was fresh and fatty, clean bite and no fishiness. Ponzu added a bright, citrusy lift, while the green chili slices sneak in a gentle heat that lingers just long enough to keep things interesting. Not overpowering, just enough to keep things interesting ใ€‹$12

This was a fun starter to have. Generous about of creamy lobster salad that was full of lobster and prawn meat as well as seasonal fruits. If you like lobster salad sushi, think of that but wayyy more decadent. Each bite was rich and decadent, a really unorthodox experience compared to your normal kueh pie tee. Would recommend to share this among four people so that each person can just have 1, because it will get kind of filling if still want to make space for the other dishes.

Xiao Ya Tou is that one place that youโ€™ll walk past and be so intrigued by its decor that you know you have to try it. With its old school retro ambience, the space is cosy, fun, and great for gatherings. Service is both attentive and warm, and I personally think itโ€™s a great place especially to bring your friends from far who want to have fun Asian but fusion cuisine.

The wok fried wagyu hor fun fell a bit short for me in terms of the hor fun itself. The wok hei wasnโ€™t strong, and the flavour of the noodles itself tasted a bit bland. I did ask for their sambal to spice it up though. The wagyu beef jazzed up the hor fun a good ton, especially because it was nicely seared and well-executed till tender. A dish thatโ€™s both a hit and a miss for me.

This cozy cafรฉ is always top of mind when it comes to picking a weekend brunch spot. During our visit, the staff recommended the Eggs Your Way, served with housemade bread and your choice of eggsโ€”I went for scrambled, paired with a surprisingly juicy and tender Cajun Chicken Breast add-on.

And because no brunch is complete without fries, we couldnโ€™t resist sharing a side of Mentaiko Fries, which were an absolute hit. Perfect comfort food to round out the weekend vibes!

Our experience here was perfect - delicious food set against a classy ambience and warm lights. But that's not to say that the prices are high - the dishes here are really worth the quality plus the HH oysters and drinks are so so affordable! We had 6 oysters at only $14 and they were so delicious. The server will even take the time to explain their origins and flavour profiles if you wish. The Yuzu Caipiroska (HH $15) packed a double punch of booziness and sourness, but in a good way!

On to the food, we started with the Crab Croquettes ($15 for 3 pcs). Exterior was well-crisp without any heavy greasiness, and the insides were warm and oozing with potatoes and flakes of crab meat. My partner had a funny comment though, that if she ate this without knowing, she would have thought that the filling was the Ayam brand salmon mayo spread. I...agreed.

Next, we had the Hispi cabbage ($17) which unfortunately was the letdown of the meal. We really wanted to like this, but the flavours of the baby anchovy and asiago cheese didn't really gel well with the cabbage. The cabbage sweetness should be more pronounced but unfortunately I could not appreciate much of it.

However, the star of the show was hands-down the Crab Zucchini Pasta ($28). So buttery, rich, and flavourful, the pasta with the sauce alone was already so damn delicious. Completing the dish were the generous chunks of sweet crab meat as well as slices of zucchini adding a touch of freshness. We loved this.

Food, service, and vibes were all amazing. I will definitely be back.

Most expensive but also allegedly one of the more notable item on the menu as recommended by their staff was the Kurobuta Pork Chop. The pork chop had a nice sear and decent tenderness, but I thought it was lacking a tad bit in its juiciness. I quite enjoyed this Japanese inspired dish for its sesame miso jus, giving just that slight tinge of sweetness and umami combination. The pork crackling garnish was a nice addition. Kale was also a nice accompaniment to cleanse your palate with every piece of meat. A nice option if you arenโ€™t on a budget, but I do think itโ€™s slightly pricey for what it was.
