Weekend lunch at Sing Swee Kee

It felt like a gentle return to comforting, old-school Hainanese flavours—simple, polished, and deeply satisfying.

Ordered the Steamed Chicken with Rice, Hainanese chap chye, Hainanese pork chop, and a house-made chilled Luo Han Guo drink.

Steamed Chicken Rice
The steamed chicken was exceptionally tender—silky, juicy, and naturally sweet, with a clean, unmistakable chicken flavour. The skin had that perfect gelatinous finish, rich yet never greasy. A timeless option for anyone who appreciates lighter, more refined tastes.

Chicken Rice
The rice was fragrant and fluffy, with just the right amount of richness. It paired beautifully with the steamed chicken, especially when lifted by the chilli sauce and ginger sauce—balanced and comforting.

Hainanese Chap Chye
A warm, homely dish done with care. The black fungus and fried pork skins added a pleasant crunch, while the vegetables were cooked to a soft, flavour-soaked tenderness. Lightly seasoned but far from bland—elevated by lard cracklings that gave it depth and a satisfying finish.

Hainanese Pork Chop
Crisp on the outside with tender meat within, served with a nostalgic sweet-savoury sauce that hit all the right notes. It went surprisingly well with chicken rice, adding a richer contrast to the meal.

Cold Luo Han Guo Drink
Cooling, soothing, and thoughtfully restrained in sweetness—an easy, refreshing way to round off the meal.

A comforting, lighter-leaning spread that still felt complete and indulgent in its own understated way—ideal for lovers of traditional Hainanese fare - Rating: 4/5

Went to Sing Swee Kee for lunch and ordered a few dishes as below.
1) Roast Chicken Rice
The roast chicken was flavourful with a light smoky aroma. Skin had a slight crispness while the meat remained juicy and well-seasoned. Paired well with the chilli and dark sauce, making it a satisfying and hearty plate. Rice was fragrant and fluffy without being overly oily. It complemented the roast chicken nicely and soaked up the sauce well.
2) Hainanese Chap Chye
A comforting, homestyle dish. Vegetables were well-braised and soft, with a mild savoury gravy that wasn’t too salty. A good balance to the meats.
3) Hainanese Pork Chop
Tender and lightly fried, with a classic Hainanese-style sweet and savoury sauce. Not greasy and very enjoyable with rice.
4) Iced Barley Drink
Refreshing and lightly sweetened, great for cutting through the richness of the meal.
5) Overall
A well-balanced and filling meal with comforting flavours. Ideal if you enjoy roast chicken and classic Hainanese dishes.

The dishes were very flavourful! It was worth the trip :)

Chicken rice that offers something different. Really enjoyed the pork chop and the chap chye.

The chicken chop is a great contrasting dish to be paired with their signature chicken. Well seasoned rice and chap chye

Dinner at Sing Swee Kee was great! Chicken rice was flavourful and had the right texture. It also pairs really well with the chilli. Definitely will come back!

[CITY HALL, SINGAPORE] we were at @brothbeyond_chijmes recently for a hotpot meal and we were really quite impressed by the quality of ingredients and the service provided by one of the server, Maine 😍

To me, the most important dish in a hotpot is the soup base and Golden Umami Broth 🍲 was the best. It was really rich and provided great flavour for any other hotpot dishes. Many of their dishes were served with dry ice, giving that fancy vibe to elevate your dining. All of the hotpot dishes were of high quality, and I loved Signature Mushroom Pork Ball 🐷 the most.

They serve a plethora of cooked dishes as well, and the one that stole my heart was their Live Boston Lobster Porridge 🦞, which had so much seafood umami! I like the crispy bits as well which added extra texture. The lobster itself was definitely fresh, as it was taken directly from a tank. Wagyu Prata 🥞 was also crispy on the outside and chewy within, with tender meaty filling which provided much flavour!

Thank you @eatwithkeat for the invite and @brothbeyond_chijmes for the food. It was truly exceptional!

Back for this refined but pricey vegetarian. I like tea jelly, but this was inferior, on the bitter side.

Back for this refined but pricey vegetarian. This is bibimbap I suppose? The bowl was alright, especially the five grains, but the supposedly crispy mushroom, which was why I ordered, was rubbery and flimsy. Disappointing.

Back for this refined but pricey vegetarian. I think can imagine the taste of this lah.

Back for this refined but pricey vegetarian. Mushrooms, garlic and butter - can't go wrong.

Back for this refined but pricey vegetarian. Walao the waitress told me this wouldn't taste like veggies. Come on it was all veggies, with just a hint of pineapple. I struggled.
